Formed in December 2006 as a family group, Shane singing, playing guitar and piano, Shane's brother Brandon on Drums and cousin Ryan on bass. After releasing two albums in less than a year, regional tours, and a long trip to the South, Brandon and Ryan headed back to school.
Following the break-up of the Mercies, Shane recorded new album called Shouting At A Silent Sky. To order the new album (and get a free album stream) go to shanetutmarc.com

"A hell of a record!" - John Richards, KEXP's Associate Program Director
"An album you shouldn't miss." - TheBlackandWhiteMag.com (Canadian music zine)
"Across the River" shows Shane getting dreamy and seasoned with patterns of warm acoustic guitar being picked behind his striking and resonant lyrical call. He's a singer, through and through. - Trent Moorman, The Stranger
"[Shane Tutmarc's] voice is strained, lending an urgency to his songs, which range from unironic country steps to finger-picked folk ramblers to piano-driven devotional songs." - Brian J. Barr, Seattle Weekly
"I feel as though I’m present at the birth of rock and roll." - Sound on the Sound.com Live Review
"In the beginning, rock 'n' roll fused country, boogie-woogie and the blues. This up-tempo alloy of country, rhythm and blues is where Tutmarc reigns. It could be called modern roots... On top of everything, though, is Tutmarc's spirited voice, which is at home snarling or crooning, wherever the spirit takes him." - Shawn Telford, Seattle PI
"It’s like a fresh breath of air to hear them play... They pull sounds from many different music genres to keep it fresh and progressive... With their recent release "Hey Lazarus!", Shane Tutmarc & The Traveling Mercies are a band to keep your eye on!" - Barflies.net (SoCal Music Zine)
"If you didn't think you were a fan of the blues, just check out Hey Lazarus!, the latest disc from these Seattlites, and think again!"
- taken from the 2008 International Pop Overthrow program
"...a vital outfit that marries blues and country influences to Tutmarc’s rock-solid pop sensibilities. Plaintive and plucky whether they’re covering traditional favorites or rocking their own tunes, the Traveling Mercies are the real deal." - Barbara Mitchell, Portland Tribune

Shane! We are both coughing up our lungs and had to pound the cough drops (and a few whiskys) just to get through last night. We missed you and hope you feel better! We'll do another one together soon...xox S&G
I'm glad to be aboard! (I wrote "glad to be aborted" like six times. Ridiculous.
Also, your music is amazing!
I work at a independent radio station in Colorado, if you wouldn't mind, we'd love it if you could hook us up with your newest LP and perhaps the other one if you're feeling crazy! Just so we can try to get them into rotation, or into the library.
Think about it, you're going to have all sorts of Denver/Boulder area hipsters, hippies, yuppies.
Shane, I'm missing you too mane! I'm headed south for Christmas, but should be back in the NW in March. If everything goes according to plan. What you going to do?
