About me: After taking the helm in 2001 for the now retired master craftsman Ken Pettifor, who founded from the basement of his house in the mid 1970's Pettifor's Band Instrument Repair, now known as Pettifor's Inc. located in Elkhart,Indiana. Taking pride as being a nationally recognized leader in the restoration and preservation of brass-wind and wood-wind musical instruments is both a great blessing and an honor.
Having started my career in 1986 at the Vincent Bach factory(part time at Pettifor's spring'87), and then full time at at Pettifor's in 1991, I have had the privilege to apprentice under numerous masters of the art of musical instrument repair, some of whom were guided by Vincent Bach himself. Others that I was fortunate enough to have apprenticed under were close to the age of retirement from the Bach plant and all had spent a lifetime working in the field of instrument manufacturing and repair at such facilities as C.G.Conn, Blessings, Buescher, Olds, Martin and York to name just a few.
Also here at Pettifor's we are fortunate enough to have highly dedicated and skilled employees, each of whom either had worked at(10-20+ years)or are currently employed at the Conn-Selmer factory. Each one takes a particular pride and personal interest in their role here at Pettifor's and I could not ask for a better staff of professionals in the repair field.
On this page you will be able to browse through pictures of different musical instruments such as New York Bach, Besson MEHA, Benge, King, Selmer Paris and Martin Committee models that we have overhauled and be able to view the different types of finishes and coatings that we have available.
We will also be making it a point to start photo documenting our work and posting the pictures here on a regular basis.
Enjoy, and contact me with any questions.
