The Ugly Guys are legendary Kursaal Flyers Paul Shuttleworth and Vic Collins on lead vocals and pedal steel, who first played together back in 1969 in Cow Pie, a band inspired by the country flavoured rock music coming out of California at the time from the likes of the Byrds and Gram Parsons' Flying Burrito Brothers.
They are joined by former Jerry The Ferret guitarist Steve Oliver and Bob Clouter, Mickey Jupps' original Orioles and Legend drummer. The line up is completed by Andy Farrell on bass. Andy has played with Paul in the past as well as being in band's such as the Hampsters and Eddie & the Blizzards.
The band name comes from a Kursaal Flyers song: "The pretty faces came and went....but the Ugly Guys played on and on and on....". Audience reaction to the band so far has been nothing short of ecstatic, receiving praise for their authentic singing and top notch soloing, so if you like Cosmic American Music-the Byrds, the Band , the Eagles or even Counting Crows check out the Ugly Guys - they play like veterans but they rock like 18 year olds!
"Truckers, Kickers and Cowboy Angels" the new CD of Gram related Songs is now out on Bad Dog Records and along with their earlier Mini CD "Cosmic American Music" is available from the Kursaal Flyers websight(www.kursaalflyers.co.uk) or from Smart Choice Music (www.smartchoicemusic.com).
This month we have Regina Spektor with the theme to the film Prince Caspian (but don’t let that put you off, it is really rather wonderful), Mermaid Skeletons with a great song that’s worth it for the chorus alone, the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir, who are as good as their name if not more so and finally the legendary Chip Taylor with the thought-provoking Former American Soldier. Great listening, and if you like the tracks, buy the albums!

Good evening! I'll be starting a tour in the UK next week, and wanted to let you know.
You may have heard my guitar playing and not even realized it was me. I played with Buddy Holly, and when you listen to "It's So Easy" or "Heartbeat"...well, that is me.
We will play some of the Buddy Holly songs that i played on so many years ago, and a few more! I might even sing a couple.
I hope you can make one of the dates?
Best,
Tommy Allsup
Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to the UK in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. I figured that with you being a musician that you would really be able to appreciate this show. Kevin made a little video at my studio last week while we were recording....check it out http://myspacetv. com/index. cfm?fuseaction=vids. individual&videoid=34589518
There are a series of shows in England and Scotland....dates are on my myspace.
We won't be doing my material, but it is a really special show, and Tommy is a true rock'n'roll legend.
Anyway, take care and hope to see you there.
