There are bands which play music, and those which create it. While most bands become or conform to their influences, a microscopic few possess the vision and inspiration to break new ground. Rearranging the face of convention, these architects of innovative forward impulsion simultaneously pay homage to the pioneers who preceded them and unwaveringly defy the status quo.
The Ultra Vespa is the latter. This band is not a mere reflection, but rather, the single ray of unadulterated clarity lighting the way through this muddled bog of imitation and wannabeism.
Thanks to The Ultra Vespa, rock 'n' roll will never be the same.
Formed in the summer of 2005 when former The Gemini Program frontman and guitarist Danny Skinner met with bassist Willie Nutt and the Betts brothers David and Brad on guitar and drums respectively. In less than 20 minutes it was clear to all that the chemistry was far too powerful to ignore.
The quartet quickly composed a dynamic set of hook laden, emotionally fueled songs out of pure energy. Guitars, bass, drums, and an unconventional sense of direction fuse this group of friends in a bond formed of nothing but their common influences and goals.
The Ultra Vespa is here to stay. Get used to it.
