"THE LATEST FAVOURITE TO PROGRESS FROM SHEFFIELD’S VIBRANT MUSIC SCENE IS THE UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT WITH THEIR FEEL-GOOD INDIE POP SONGS DESTINED TO PROPEL THEIR DEBUT ALBUM INTO THE ARMS OF WIDESPREAD APPRECIATION. WELL CRAFTED, METICULOUS SONG-WRITERS, CATCHY MELODIES. A CONFIDENT SOUNDING RECORD FAR GREATER THAN YOU MIGHT EXPECT FROM A “DEBUT ALBUM”. A VERY PROMISING START, SURE TO GAIN MOMENTUM. ONCE AGAIN SHEFFIELD DELIVERS THE GOOD STUFF." (Subba-Cultcha Album Review)
"POP SONGS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER, BLESSED WITH LASHINGS OF SWEET HARMONIES.CONSIDERING THEY ONLY PLAYED THEIR FIRST GIG LESS THAN 12 MOTNHS AGO, IT IS REMARKABLE THAT TUI HAVE PRODUCED SUCH A CONFIDENT DEBUT." (Counterfeit Magazine Album Review)
"A BRAVE ATTACK AT THE ORDINARY. TUI TAKE INFLUENCES FROM VERY ECLECTIC PLACES AND LAY DOWN SOME INTERESTING IDEAS THAT OTHER NORTHERN ARTISTS COULD LISTEN TO." (Red Shoes Album Review)
"BUILD YOUR OWN ARK IS AN APTLY NAMED RECORD. THIS BAND ARE DETERMINED TO ESCAPE 'RUN OF THE MILL' AND CRAFT SOMETHING WORTHY OF INTRIGUE. THE FAMILIAR BUILDING BLOCKS HAVE BEEN PLACED TOGETHER IN AN EXCITING NEW ORDER THAT MANAGES TO CROSS AND MERGE GENRES WHICH MANY NEW BANDS ARE ALL TO EASILY HARBOURED WITHIN. EXPECT TO HEAR BIG, EPIC KEY-SHIFTING CHORUSES FOLLOWED BY BOPPING BASS AND FOLKY NOTES." (Leeds Music Scene Album Review)
"RUSS, DAN AND TOM HAVE UBIQUITOUS TALENT. EACH CHORUS HAS SPECIAL MELODIES AND WONDERFUL RHYTHM. 'ENJOY OR ENDURE' EXUDES CREATIVE EXPLOSIONS, MAKING IT SHORT AND SWEET, BUT BATTLING IT OUT FOR BEST TRACK HAS TO BE 'CAUSE AND EFFECT', WITH ITS BRILLIANT LYRICS, AND 'MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY' WITH ITS AWESOME SOUND." (Rock Pulse Album Review)
"A POTENT MIX OF WRYLY OBSERVED LYRICS, TELEPATHIC INTERPLAY BETWEEN GUITAR, BASS AND DRUMS AND A KEEN MELODIC VOCAL. AN AMAZING LIVE ACT, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN" (Sandman magazine)
"CREATING MORE BUZZ THAN A HIVE OF HONEY BEES." (Tramlines Festival Guide)
"ONE OF THOSE RARE BANDS WORTHY OF THE ACCOLADES, THEY ARE SIMPLY WONDERFUL TO WITNESS LIVE." (Counterfeit Magazine)
"ROUSING INDIE POP." (David Dunn, Sheffield Star)
“REAL FEEL-GOOD INDIE TUNES. GREAT SONGS, NO ARGUMENT.” (Sheffield Music Scene Magazine)
“PROMISING SONG WRITERS." (Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6)
"ONE SMALL STEP - NICE!" (Q Magazine)
"THESE DAYS I FIND THRASH AND POWER POP A BIT REPETITIVE, BUT THIS WAS REMINISCENT OF MORRISSEY WHILE STILL BEING PERSONAL, I HEAR THE POSSIBILITY OF A GOOD FUTURE. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU COULD SUPRISE US ALL ONE DAY." (Paul Gambaccini, Radio 6)
About The Unfortunate Incident - Debut Album Out...Now!
The Unfortunate Incident are an exciting new Sheffield band that play a unique rock/country/punk/folk hybrid and have made astounding progress in the short time they have been together. They have gigged extensively throughout England - including a huge headline gig at the Plug in Sheffield, a supporting slot at the ‘Tramlines' festival that took place in Sheffield and a headline show at the prestigious Proud venue in Camden - and have garnered a reputation as a formidable live act.
They have received airplay on Radio 2, Radio 6, Hallam FM, Radio Sheffield, Radio Norfolk, Jump Radio, Many More Radio and Forge Radio. They have been a Listeners' Choice on Steve Lamacq's Radio 2 show - alongside the likes of Muse - and a Band of the Week on Hallam FM. Their session for Radio Sheffield's ‘Raw Talent' show garnered a record number of responses for an unsigned band.
With Russ on Guitar/lead vocals, brother Dan on bass and Tom on drums, they recently released their debut album, ‘Build Your Own Ark'; which has received great reviews. It is available on CD from the link below or mp3 from iTunes.
