       About the unperson
    unperson, The.

    June 21, 2007

This project - The unperson - is my very first "professional" effort in my extensive musical non-career. I am a songwriter/ guitarist/ producer/ etc living in Queens, New York. My real name is not important.

There are very few episodes in my life. The only thing of note, if anything, would be the fact that I am an immigrant. I came to this great city of New York in 1997 (It was the 5th of May, to be precise) to start life anew. Nobody knew me back then, and few people know me now. After years of living in a financial bind, it was the summer of 2005 that I finally saved up enough money to self-press this album.

The Cd has gathered a few nice reviews since its public debut in the last Autumn. While I am genuinely flattered by the compliments on my technical ability, I was most gratified when people picked up on the very personal aspects of my songwriting. As horribly earnest as it may sound, songs always meant to me more than just music; I bought my first guitar when I was 16 not because I thought it would be fun, but because I had nothing else to cling on to. Rock music to me was both an escape from, and a confrontation against the world. It felt real when nothing else mattered, and it made me believe that life could be worth living when it was not. That friendless 16 year-old kid was 'The unperson' - for whom I wrote these songs.

The pressing of this album happened to mark the 10th year since I stepped off the plane and stood on the JFK airport's lobby. There I told myself that I would build a new life. A decade later I have still just started it. At this rate, these songs may end up becoming just another lament of a forgotten lunatic - yet so far I have no intention of making it an epilogue to my life. On that somewhat positive and determined note, I would like to cut short of this autobiography and continue on the real thing.

"All we love are lonely records" - one of my heroes said this, in 1997.

These songs build really well. I wish I could do that. Nobody mentioned Nico yet?
