Formed originally as the "BBC Radio Leicester All Stars" to raise funds for the Rainbows children's hospice in Leicestershire, the band was part of BBC Radio Leicester's 40th birthday 'Ruby Rainbow Appeal'.
Highlights include a sell-out BBC birthday gala concert at Leicester's De Montfort Hall with Showaddywaddy, the Glastonbudget tribute band festival, BBC TV's Children in Need, Leicester's Curve theatre and the Frontier club at Batley.
Relaunched as 'The upBeatles', the band is a caricature of the original Fab Four as they continue on a "Magical Mystery Tour" down "Penny Lane" in celebration of those sounds from the swinging sixties.
While we're always happy to consider private engagements, we remain principally a charity band and play our music for good causes and fun!
Thousands of pounds have been raised through band gigs and charities which have benefitted include: Rainbows, Wish Upon a Star, LOROS, Take Care Nursery, the county Air Ambulance, the Laura Centre, Leicester Children's Holiday Centre, Coping With Cancer, Special Olympics, Children in Need, Help For Heroes, ProstAid, Steps (conductive education), the Matt Hampson Trust and Bowel Cancer UK.
An unsolicited testimonial from fitness guru and organiser of Music in the Meadow, ROSEMARY CONLEY:
"THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for all your time and talent on the night of Music in the Meadow. You were brilliant! Everyone so enjoyed your set and, with The Beatles being so much in the news at the moment, we felt very privileged to be so topical with our band line-up!
Music in the Meadow proved a fantastic success raising £22,500! A pretty impressive result by any standards. Every £ raised from the event goes directly to the charities – 70% to STEPS, 20% to Matt Hampson and 10% divided equally between Ashby Folville village hall and Church.
We loved having the upBEATLES as part of our line-up this year and Mike and I thank you so much for everything you did. Brilliant!"

*Note: The upBeatles operate independently of BBC Radio Leicester*
Here we are performing live on BBC TV: "we hope you will enjoy the show..."
