The Uprights are a duo from Seattle. Jake Witt and Jonas DeVerona used to play drums for two very different bands in Seattle (Throw Me The Statue, Romance). Now they play with each other…
The Uprights began as Jake’s one-man solo project (featured independent artist on Barsuk Records' website 2002). Two computer crashes later Jake joined forces with Vann in March of 2007, collaborating on new material and overhauling the old. In 2008 Jake and Vann were joined by Jonas on Drums and Matt Meldon on bass (formerly of Why? Anticon records). After a year of recording and shows Jake and Jonas are now a duo, writing, recording and producing music at Soda Form recording studio in Seattle.
The Uprights sound is a mix of melodic, driven, lush electro-rock and sparse ambient soundscapes using guitar, synths, electronics and vocals. The Uprights have toured extensively around the Midwest, and Pacific Northwest. The Uprights have been the subject of national coverage in Performer Magazine, The Stranger, City Beat and The Cincinnati Enquirer. Their music can be heard on KEXP 90.3 fm, WOXY.org 97X and BreakThruRadio, NYC Internet radio.

“Gorgeous melodies and headphone-filling sounds, songs that are panoramic in scope and performed with ardor.”- Performer Magazine
"Underground pop as pretty as you'll hear."-Cincinnati Enquirer
“It's good stuff. Really, really talented guys.”- Lisa Wood, KEXP
Thanks for the request. I like the first song a lot "New September..." whatever the complete title is (the player cuts off longer titles so you never know what the complete name of a song is). Anyhow, nice work.
Thanks for the add and for listening, guys. Absolutely outstanding music. Keep up the great work. How did you find out about us? Hit us back when you get the chance. We really look forward to hearing from you.
