  • Bio

The Uptown Savages came together in the Fall of 1999 in the wake of the break up of the Swinging Kools and the Exotics. The Savages are a 7 piece combo featuring Sax and Piano in addition to the traditional Upright Bass, Guitar, Drum and Vocal. The group's music is largely influenced by the R&B and Black Rock tradition of the Late forties to the early sixties with a definate nod to the rockabilly and swamp pop genres. The Savages released their first CD "Rocket Drivin' Daddy", on Wisconsin's historic CUCA label, in 2001 to wide critical acclaim. The album reached number 9 on the Freeform American Roots chart and won the band fans all over the world. The group has performed steadily since it's inception performing at clubs, festivals and parties throughout Wisconsin with occasional trips to Minneapolis and Chicago. The Uptown Savages have shared the bill with The Big 6, Ronnie Dawson, Big Sandy, Link Wray, The Blazers, Ray Condo, Billy Lee Riley and Deke Dickerson to name a few. In addition the band performed at the Rockin' Fifties Fest in Green Bay in 2003. Over the years and a few member changes the Savages have focused and sharpened their sound. Now the band is stronger than ever. The Uptown Savages releaseed their 2nd full length recording entitled Crazy, Crazy, Crazy in 2006 and continue to receive great reviews and radio airplay around the globe. The band also released 2 of the tunes from the CD on a 7", 45 rpm record. Look for another vinyl release in 2007. In May of 2007 The Savages performed at the Green Bay Rockin' Fest III to great response. The official Uptown Savages website can be accessed at www.uptownsavages.com. .. ....
