Sans doute le plus inclassable des groupes émanant de la nébuleuse rock tunisienne, the ursula minor, combo à géométrie variable réunis autour des anciens membres de la défunte maison punk stavka, multiplient les expériences dans une musique trimballant son soufre entre incantations punk, dérives progressives, froideurs électroniques et délires hallucinatoires psychédéliques.Creusant le sillon de fétiches avoués comme the mars volta, the soft machine, can, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, John Frusciante…, les frères chevelus Omar Aloulou (basse, ex-Stavka) et Sami Aloulou (chant, ex-Les rescapés 2 vice, Stavka) formèrent The Ursula Minor au début du millénaire, avec l’aide d’un proche cousin Ali Aloulou (claviers, puis guitares), Selim Zaoui (batterie, ex-Schizofrenia, Castaway) et complété par leur comparse de Stavka, Mohsen Ben Cheikh à la guitare et à la programmation.Quelques divergences et remaniements ont finalement mené à intégrer Elyes farhat aux claviers alors que Ali prenait le relais de Mohsen qui se consacrera en profondeur au groupe E formé avec Zied Hamrouni ex membre de Stavka lui aussi, et agitateur culturel reconnu de la scène tunisienne depuis des lustres.The Ursula Minor se caractériseront par leur attitude souvent outrageante sur scène frisant souvent l’épilepsie, leurs rares prestations se contentaient d’une ou deux musiques prolongées jusqu’à la rupture à coups d’improvisations interminables et d’onomatopées fragiles.En 2007, le groupe publie un album manifeste, Andalib Sukut (fable d’Omerta Bucco), premier volet d’une histoire déployée sur une trilogie à venir. On retrouve les influences surréalistes dans cette --uvre mais aussi l’intérêt que porte le groupe pour les contes mystiques, le cinéma d’avant-garde et le verbe absurde.La musique a été affiliée à Robert Wyatt et le mythique Soft Machine mais aussi The Mars Volta et Pink Floyd.L’album est en fait un morceau unique de 32 minutes, décomposé en plusieurs chapitres (Triolism-Silentium Post Clamores-Bribes-Embryoglio-Elephante Culte-Msiloirt) demeurant très énigmatique et qui divisera ses auditeurs.La sortie de l’album correspondra également à la fin du documentaire encore inédit qu’une équipe de journalistes venue d’Allemagne tournera autour du groupe et de ses acolytes du collectif « DadaLabs ».L’année 2008 s’annonce riche pour le groupe, qui s’est vu inviter pour collaborer sur le prochain album de l’écrivain cyber punk Japonais Kenji Siratori, auteur prolifique au japon (pas moins de 30 livres et albums) et encensé par David Bowie lui-même.

"Made up of Tunisian immigrants in France, Ursula Minor was formed at first as Ursa Minor by the two Aloulou brothers, Omar (bass) and Sami (vocals), who were in the punk band Stavka. They were joined by their cousin, Ali Aloulou (keyboards, guitars), selim Zaoui (drums) and a former Stavka member, Moshen Ben Shaikh (guitar, programming). Several changes have lead to the joining of Elyes Farhat (keyboards), allowing thus for Ali to take charge of Moshen who has left the band to form the band E with a former Stavka member (Zied Hamrouni). The band released in 2007 their first album, which is also the first part of a trilogy, under the name of Andalib Sukut (fable d’Omerta Bucco). The music has been said to remind and been influenced by the likes of Robert Wyatt, Soft Machine, Mars Volta and Pink Floyd, mixing a semi-apparent punk style with a psychedelic rock basis. The album is in fact a one continuous piece of about half an hour, divided into chapters and is a very well done and varied psych/space listening experience."
