The Vague "I Need Love" (Jellyfish Tribute)

Add to My Profile | More Videos

"Lets call this guitar rock, kids. Boppy guitar riffs, cooing vocal harmonies, a definite retro vibe and hooks-a-plenty." (The Other Paper Columbus, OH)

"She Dont Feel sounds like Ken Stringfellow (The Posies) penned a tune for Phaseshifter period Redd Kross. The Vague positively shimmers in its love for all things power pop. You can hear a solid backbone of Cheap Trick and the Raspberries, all in the vivid Technicolor of a Partridge Family rerun." ( Columbus Alive )

"Each of the 12 songs (on Divorcing the Shame) is a melodic, well-crafted, three minute slice of power pop. The Beatles, Kiss, Clevelands Raspberries and Elvis Costello are reference points." ( The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus, OH )

"I just received the new CD by The Vague, called Divorcing the Shame, and I cant stop listening to it. Its good old fashioned power pop, very engaging, warm, catchy pop songs. A very good record. Check them out." ( David Bash CEO of International Pop Overthrow )

"The Vague have managed to encapsulate both power and pop into their sound. Combining pretty, sing-a-long structures with guitars that actually ROCK!!! The instant their pop hits the mark, theres an instantaneous feeling of bubbly pleasure." (Listen.com )

"Their songs, catchy and somewhat sardonic, are a welcomed departure from the stare at your feet approach to music. Instead The Vague choose to bounce about a playground of pop carousels and richly textured harmonies." ( Bruce Brodeen Not Lame Records )

"The Vagues Divorcing the Shame falls on the tougher end of the power pop spectrum think Cheap Trick crossed with Cockeyed Ghost but it never leaves the melody behind." ( John Borack Goldmine / Amplifier Magazine )

"The short and sweet of it is, if you love power pop or alternapop, you must buy the debut from The Vague, you will not be disappointed. We expect big things from these guys." ( Keavin Wiggins Rock-N-World.com )

THE VAGUE
"DIVORCING THE SHAME"
(self released)

Pop music doesn't need fancy bells and whistles for it to succeed - it merely takes good songwriting. on their debut, "Divorcing The Shame", this band from Columbus, Ohio, delivers down-to-earth, danceable power pop that unfailingly makes you feel a sense of well being. Lead vocalist/songwriter Chuck Oney sings with a gut-level passion that will remind you of Cockeyed Ghost's Adam Marsland. Songs like "Dandy","She Don't Feel...", "Eggshells", "Punched and Pleased" and "Hang Up" are the kind of tunes you'll find yourself humming incessantly, and The Motors inspired "3 Monkees" absolutely would have been a hit in the more power pop friendly environs of '70s radio. "I Wish I Was Like You" and "Helluva Guy"  may sound like they are of similar sentiment, but in fact they are the yin and yang of the album. Both are soft and sad sounding, but only one being particularly complimentary. Which one? You'll have to buy the album to find out, but it will be worth every dollar you spend.
Davivd Bash - Amplifier Magazine  (Issue 30 June 2002)

Our new album is out on Friday, May 1st, and nobody anywhere has it yet. If you buy only one the price is $12. But if you buy more than one, the price is less than $9 each. So buy 10. It will cost you about $90, but you'll be able to sell them to your friends for $12 each and make a profit.

you can order it now
