Some have said Paddy's vocals are reminiscent of Steve Winwood, with the guitar licks of Eric Clapton, so Blind Faith should definately be considered a soundalike of The Valentine Coup. Especially since they too included Hammond Organ/keys & rich intricate drum patterns as part of their sound.
TVC also incorporates elements of The Who's Rock Opera/R&B feel, with moodyness and extended instrumentals a la Pink Floyd, added to florishes of Indie, Latin, Psychedelia.
Recently a couple of people have also said Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller, so please keep the soundalikes coming because we struggle to describe ourselves.
Here's how others have put it:
"A piercing and perfectly pitched lead vocal turns some great songs into something special."

"Kicking things off was The Valentine Coup's Paddy O'Hare, who I am seriously considering reporting to Trading Standards, for his blatant lack of Irish lilt or 'Danny Boy' cover. Where trad-folk was absent, however, a traffic-stopping voice was not, and his had enough vocal horse-power to get Clarkson itching for a test-drive. 'Love Conquers All' was dedicated to the hungover amongst us (which included at least 97% of patrons), culminating in a vital blast of Nurofen in some heartening "aaah, ooh, aah oh oooh"s"

"Emblazoned with organ and keyboards the blues guitars rolled through taking us on poetic journeys that could have made you believe you were in a French Quarter bar in New Orleans. The Valentine Coup's tunes rode this vibe with ease and breathed new life into the dream of a new Manchester culture and they want to come back and play again. They have my vote. They can certainly return to tv21 and whisk me away on a journey of new Northern Quarter blues again."
Steve Cunio. TV21s (TV21 gig review)
"After several beautiful acts, Paddy did his thing to much applause and even some valiant drunken attempts at what we often refer to as dancing. With a great new name - The Valentine Coup, Paddy treated us to some electro-acoustic ballads and operatas which instead of ending in the usual strum made many a colourful tangent prolonging the interest and increasing the chilled out factor considerably."
From 2003-2008 Blue Thatcher were a force to be reckonned with, first as a blues covers band then later as a rock band. From their first gig at Jacksons Pit with Bruce Carter (The Whip) on drums, Ollie “The Reverand” Kelly on Bass, Jonno “BB” Donohoe (Sleazy McGuires) on guitar, Andy “Boy Blue” Mac on Sax (Sleazy McGuires) plus original members Paddy “Lightening Boy” O'Hare (RAWCUSS & Fink Ployd) and Dan “88 Keys” Hutchings (I Am Bang), and after the first gig, Ste “Horsepower” James became drummer and the band played the best blues in the area anywhere that would have them. During this period BT also featured regularly Jono’s Dad Dave “the lips” Donohoe on trombone, and Martin “Spadaman” Halbrook.
With the departure of Ollie Kelly to Australia Jorge Escobar (Hurricane Club) stepped in on Bass and eventually Blue Thatcher the original rock band was born, with the fixed and final line up of Paddy O'Hare, Dan Hutchings, Jorge Escobar and Ste James.
The 4 piece released the Wayne / Gentle Surprise EP and played such highlight gigs as Manchesters Academy 2, The Hub in Dublin, The Cavern in Liverpool and the regular local haunts such as Night & Day and The Roadhouse etc. In an attempt to find a new direction the band wrote some new songs and began recording an as yet unfinished single at 80 Hertz studios and changed their name to The Valentine Coup....but it never really stuck, and by the time Ste James announced his departure to the land of Oz the band decided to go out the way they started. So on 12th April 2008 Blue Thatcher performed “Thatcher’s Last Stand” at Delph Club, Saddleworth playing some of their favourite blues and rock and roll covers.
Thanks to everyone who supported us through the years, and maybe we’ll see you again one of these days.

Hi there, just dropping you a msg to let you know what we do. Sugar House Music is primarily a production label working on band demos through to record label releases. We are also currently signing acts to production/management/artist referral deals to help further bands we feel of potential, by working on every aspect of the band, from songwriting, production, recording and passing the act onto our list of industry contacts.
As an offshoot of this, we also have a record label to release bands we like that we haven't produced a recording for.
