  • Bio

The valtra spring Tractor pop never sounded so good! With rich harmony entwined with reeds and bowed bass, percussive colourful drumming and intricate guitar the valtra spring interpret the songs of Roddy Johnston in a way that is unique and exhilarating for to the listener. The songs tell of Yorkshire life mixed with magical realism. Gritty northern snapshots moulded into the shape of ancient ballad forms. Funny observations from Trans Pennine rail journeys, to laments on migration. The songs read like Raymond Carver’s short stories; the protagonists are often the unreliable narrators of absurd aspirations and twisted reasoning. The Valtra spring bring a modern slant to the basic folk idiom i.e. telling a story through song in essence keeping with the spirit of early blues and country music but with roots firmly planted in English Scottish and Irish traditions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
