   About The van Gobots
The van Gobots are a rock and roll band from Minneapolis.
The van Gobots formed in 2007 in the heat of summer in a sweaty practice space in Minneapolis. In September of 2008 The van Gobots self-released their debut self-titled EP.

The van Gobots’ follow-up full-length record, Guantanamo Beach Party, was written in the winter of 2009 and later recorded by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording in May of 2009. Guantanamo Beach Party was mastered by Greg Reierson at Rare Form Mastering.

The van Gobots have shared the stage with such notable acts as Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (Polyvinyl), The Parlor Mob (Roadrunner), Headlights (Polyvinyl) and The Love Language (Bladen County) as well as showcasing at Red Gorilla Music Festival (Austin, TX) in 2008 and 2009 and Texas Rockfest in 2009.

   Press

Guantanamo Beach Party [Released September 11, 2009]

"despite their goofy exterior, the van Gobots are rather serious about their music... with a nervous yet capable energy throughout. The guitars are frenetic and brittle...The whole concoction is raw and driving, anxious to make a point...They are not naive; they are passionate. And they are determined to make the most of that passion."
City Pages, Michael Walsh

"local quartet Van Gobots firmly establishes itself among the Twin Cities’ most satisfying, ear-pummeling acts...each track is a formidable firecracker—the kind of pugilistic, politicized post-punk that hopefully never goes out of style."
Onion AV Club Twin Cities (Decider)

The van Gobots EP [Released September 12, 2008]
thevangobotsep
"The EP doesn’t feature a track more than four minutes and spares no rests in the name of musical mutiny. "
Greg Swan, Perfect Porridge

"To lump them in with the mall music of a Hot Topic-branded genre is doing disservice to the band’s earnest and serious side...Their CD is full of catchy and thought-provoking lyrics"
Bob Longmore, How Was The Show

"Awesomely pugnacious and prickly"
Rob van Alstyne, Metromix Twin Cities Roll Call

"With an obscenely tight rhythm section, wild but restrained riffing and a vocal bark that summons Sparta's Jim Ward, the Van Gobots have transcended just the superb name and actually cultivated some impressive tunes...A band still in its infancy, the Van Gobots have already laid the groundwork for a sound that has acres to grow. Given the group's pronounced hooks, laxs attitude and tight musicianship, the Van Gobots have plenty to look forward to."
Billboard College Town Tour Guide

"Bringing forth a high energy, hard rock sound The van Gobots [EP] is short and sweet, but it doesn’t disappoint...They leave you hungry for more."
Brett Reese, Rift Magazine

"..not your average indie rock band, they make artsy indie rock with traces of the 70's punk scene...they've got some cool ideas and are without doubt great musicians."
Kaj Roth, Melodic.net

"The Van Gobots' first foreshadows good things. The Van Gobots EP is a striptease of a truly bootylicious album to come...if this EP was any indicator then I would keep a look out for this band in the future"
Andrew Scott, HEAVE Media

"A post-punk band that could be giving us something to look forward to....good songwriting makes the music enjoyable. The songs are focused and clean"
Damon Wright, Delusions of Adequacy

Hey there!!

What's new in your world???

This Friday, we are debuting a project called Sonic Transformations. Every month or so we will present a new audio-visual performance based on a different theme/story. We will be collaborating with artists and other creative musicians along the way so let us know if you have something you'd want to bring into this project.

The first in the series is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". Live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.

Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. It will be a musical adventure, and we hope that you can come participate :)

Here's the info:

Blood Root Mother - "An Object to Crave"
w/ The Magnetrons & Thought Thieves
Friday, October 16th
Station 4
201 E 4th St
St Paul, MN 55101
9pm / $5 / 18+

We'd love to see ya there!

Peace,
Elliot

ITS TIME!

Project Project 2 (look, listen, dance, repeat) is back for another round of multimedia madness.
Join us at the Kitty Cat Klub at 9pm on Friday March 27th to witness an event described as:

"an immersive, multi-sensory aesthetic experience" TC Daily Planet

"A patchwork of buzzing circuitry and discarded sonic limbs, this new being thrives in the spaces between this and that. It is organic. It is artificial. And in numbers, it thrives.
" City Pages

For this installment we're not dicking around, we've got CD release by Ghost in the Water, a premiere screening of Nobot/Beeple multimedia collaboration, and dueling DJ sets from DJ Bach and DJ Gigamesh.
Also performances from Nobot and Estate, art and design by Soar Studios, film screenings from Jon Thompson and donebestdone.

Hope to see you all there! And in case you missed out last time, here is what you missed.

Why yes, it most certainly is. The song was written around the time we discovered Caffrey's, and the rest is sandwich history.
