The Vanities Biography................................................
"Music has always been a way for us to get in touch with ourselves...
Some form of meditation...
To feel a sense of inspiration which can emancipate a person beyond the limitations of the mundane...
Inspiration has always been the aim of this band."
The Vanities eventually formed in the spring time of 2007 after Danny, Andy, James finally decided that they would all travel together upon the same path... in search of inspiration, or perhaps in search freedom, maybe they’re looking for a way to achieve something impossible! Either way, kindred in spirit, they had discovered an alliance in each other which would eventually allow them to create a sound which they would call The Vanities.
The Vanities have always been smitten with exploring the mysteries of life... As childhood friends they were greatly influenced by the esoteric literature of Carlos Castenada, Helana Blavatsky and Taoist spirituality. They have been inspired by space exploration, astrology and the healing arts.
In order to bring something original and valuable to pop culture, you have to venture far outside the boundaries of popular culture! Otherwise the music will sound and feel comfortable and mundane, and offer no challenge to the listener.
One of the aims of the band has been to create a feeling that points to a new direction... Blues is essentially a spiritual music, soul music is of the heart, rock n roll is the music of revolution and sexuality, disco is the music of the new wave. These are the roots which encompass the energy of The Vanities’ emerging sound.
The Vanities are gathered around the creative cauldron with their hearts blazing in an attempt to some how stir these influences into a new magical formula. Like alchemists following laws and formulas which most of us cannot see or know of...
Perhaps the most enigmatic element to the Vanities can be witnessed during their live performances. They have created a thunderous sound which cry’s out to light up their audiences. The Vanities are standing fearlessly alone set alight by their faith in Love and Music.
