UPCOMING GIG DETAILS:
-----------------------------------------------

ALL LIVE MUSIC NIGHTS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
-----------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------
Check out all the bands that have played for us below...

InfluencesGig3 - Friday 15th August
Featuring...

Kundalini Drive - 10:30pm

Folk duo, Kundalini drive are always a pleasure to watch and listen to. But now they have an entire backing band, too! Ian's Rhythm and Blues style of guitar playing (supporting artists like Dr Feelgood, Status Quo and Albert Lee) coupled with Sheena's moving lyrics and vocals make Kundalini Drive a unique act and one not to be missed. You'll find it difficult to keep your feet still, so don't - give in to the beat! Here's their MySpace!

-----------------------------------------------

Jazmine Ava - 9:30pm

Jazmine writes some wonderful country/folk songs, with a consistantly smooth groove that pulls you into the flow and forces your feet to tap along, too. The lyrics feel as though they're straight from the heart and Jazmine's voice caresses the melodies with the apparent ease of a diva. Don't miss her special solo performance at The Venue. Click here to check out her music for yourself.

-----------------------------------------------

Oliver Southgate - 8:45pm

Here's one of those talented solo artists who can play pretty much anything, and he does! Almost everything on his recordings is performed by oliver himself. He has a gift for producing tracks that are pure and untainted that makes me think of Crowded House, executed with Clapton-esque ease and the laidback attitude of Jack Johnson, but still quite capable of a full-on Bon Jovi-style rock out. Click here for his MySpace.

-----------------------------------------------

Richard Capener - 8:00pm

Richard plays guitar. But rather more than that... ...His music is expressive as well as beautiful, composed, agressive and powerful. Richard plays in a similar style to that which has recently been gaining poularity on YouTube among artists such as Andy McKey, but with a flair and character all his own. Apparently he sometimes precedes his tracks with the odd tale, so look out for that, too. Check him out!

-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

Gig2 - Friday 11th July
Featuring...

Zen Motel - 10:30pm

Zen Motel bring a polished sound to their particular brand of full-..-to-the-chase, no beating around the bush... rock. There are hints of The Foo, G'n'R, Alice Cooper and a lot in between. They produce some very catchy and addictive riffs and never pull any punches with their live show - great moshing and sing-alongs alike. Click here to check them out.

-----------------------------------------------

The Kuru Smile - 9:30pm

These guys make some of the best metal/rock I've heard for a long time - awesome vocal melodies with a take on harmonies reticent of Alice In Chains. Their songs are epic and powerful, bringing you up and taking you on a journey from mellow melancholic to manic mayhem. Make sure you don't miss out. Click here for their MySpace.

-----------------------------------------------

Buried In Mexico - 8:45pm

If you fancy a bit of stoner rock crossed with a touch of glam and some great female vocals, this is the band for you. They've hit on just the right combination of punchy yet moody, a no nonsense attitude to rocking out and some great tunes to boot. You'll find yourself singing along before you know it. Click here to listen to some of their tracks.

-----------------------------------------------

Copper Pilot - 8:00pm

The 4 lads list their influences as Figg Rolls, Tea and The Duke, but I'd say their mix of indie (past and present), melodic rock and a touch of emo makes them very listen-to-able, as well as pretty current. With the added bonus of their vocal melodies, experimental attitude and general flair, Copper Pilot are well worth a listen. Click here to visit their page.

-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

Launch Night - 13th June 2008
Featuring...

Midnight Arcade

Up-beat, energy-fuelled metal, with some great vocal melodies and harmony lines. There are some blistering tracks up on their MySpace with some really catchy licks. All the band are obviously very talented musicians; the drums are thumping, the bass is tight and the guitars roar. Their tracks have a fresh and edgy sound to them and you find yourself humming them days later. Click here to check them out!

-----------------------------------------------

The Kubricks

All you'd want to hear from a modern indie band; upbeat rhythms, catchy licks and lyrics with some great sing-along harmonies chucked in there for good measure. These guys will keep you on your toes and strutting your groove, slipping the occasional ska-beat in with their more contemporary style and generally making you dance your proverbials off all night, leaving you wanting more. An awesome act, not to be missed! Click here to check them out!

-----------------------------------------------

See You In Reno

See You In Reno have a unique sound; if you couple experimental rock with an early indie sensibility and the manic side of Kurdt Cobain, you might begin to reach something like what these guys produce. But there are subtle hints of 80s pop influences in there, too, such as The Cure. There's a lot to hear in SYIR's music and it comes at you from the most unexpected directions Click here to check them out!

   About The Venue
Bad news people...

All Live Music Nights are CANCELLED until further notice.

This is due to the lack of response and turn-out of punters coming to watch the bands we've had the pleasure of hosting over the last 3 months.

I'd like to thank all of the bands, artists and musicians that have played for us - you've all been great and I, for one, have enjoyed every minute of your music and your company. All the acts that have played here have been friendly and talented and deserved more from the people of Chelmsford.

It's just a shame that the locals weren't sufficiently interested to make the effort to join us in the fun we had, and that's through no fault of the bands themselves, who have gone to great lengths only to be let down by their fans. Shame on you for letting Chelmsford's inherant apathy win the day!

Anyway, live music is no longer taking place at The Venue, but this page will remain in tact so that the bands who have played for us will still get a little bit of extra coverage. But, for now, let's keep our fingers crossed for a change of heart. Don't delete us from your friends list as there's still the possibility of some other event or entertainment coming along to save the day, so, if anything changes regarding the current situation, it will definitely be broadcast from this page.

So stay tuned... you never know...!

-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi! And WELCOME! This is the page where you can find out all the details about what's going on, who's playing and when it's all kicking off at Chelmsford's brand new place for live music, The Venue.

The Venue is situated in the bar of the Chelmsford City Football Club, Chelmsford Sport & Athletic Centre, just on the edge of Melbourne Park, off Salerno Way. It's pretty easy to get to and, when you do, you'll see just how impressive a venue it is.

On the 2nd Friday of every month (well, technically the 15th of August is the 3rd Friday, but let's not quibble...) we'll be hosting some of the best live acts in and around the local area.

An average night should run something like this:
From 7pm, when the bar opens, until it closes at midnight, there will be special low price on Fosters and Green King IPA (Chilled), only £2 a pint!!! You'll have a little while to chill out until the first act takes to the stage at around 8:00pm. Act 2 will follow at 8:45, followed by our 3rd act at 9:30 and our headliners will grace the stage at about 10:30, topping the evening off and giving you just enough time to relax and finish your drinks.

This site will be updated regularly with info and links to bands, gig photos, blogs, videos, music and as much as we can get on here to make your experience of The Venue one to remember.

If you have any suggestions for our page or there are any acts you'd like us to book (of if there are any bands out there who would like the chance to play), please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We hope you enjoy our page and we'll look forward to seeing you at The Venue.
