The Very Most is an indie-pop band from Boise, Idaho founded by Jeremy Jensen in 2002. It's quite possible they're the only indie-pop band from Boise, Idaho. Like almost every band, they exist both live and on record. But for the Very Most, the process of recording happens over years, as Jeremy, with an assembled cast of talented friends, carefully constructs layers upon layers of guitar, bass, drums, strings, percussion, woodwinds, synths, vocals and sound effects in a backyard studio. They’ve gone through many personnel changes and formats, but as of now, they’re a three piece, with Zach Von House on bass and vocals and Allen Ellis on drums and vocals. They take their show on the road in small doses, playing shows in Portland, Spokane, Salt Lake City and various points in between. They’ve also played shows with such bands as the Halo-Benders, The Microphones, and Thanksgiving. Their music is dense, catchy, and has a decidedly un-hip, yet slightly off-kilter, lyrical viewpoint. It’s kind of a like being the only adult at a little kids’ dance party where you get to choose the music, but the kids make you spin them around until everyone’s really dizzy. Influences include Beach Boys, Built to Spill, Smiths, and Belle and Sebastian.
Congratulations Forever is the second record by The Very Most, and expands greatly on the previous album, Making the Case For Me. Here are some early reviews of Congratulations Forever:
"The Very Most... play charming, polished, quaint indie-pop that'll warm you to the cockles of your heart." - Three Imaginary Girls
"The vintage, sunshine-in-a-bottle sensation encapsulated in this disc is something the whole family can listen to, and will surely bring The Very Most into some well-deserved recognition." - The Boise Beat
"The Very Most have the crisp, sweetly melodic guitar pop of Belle and Sebastian in 1996, the quirky keyboard stylings of Quasi, the anthemic, ringing jangle of Big Star and the knock-kneed, gauche 60s girls'n'guitars direction of The Aislers Set (I'm thinking of the straight-up pop greatness of The Last Match album)." - Fire Escape Talking

hi and thank you so much for this introduction to your great songs, clearly the principal reason for visiting Boise, Idaho. But I hope you go much further afield than that, soon and often. What a fabulous sound. Best to you Mark
I just ordered the CD/T-shirt deal, so that I can further spread the word here in Colorado. I'm itching to visit Boise again. Perhaps I can plan another trip around one of your shows!
Ha, thank you! I'll try to follow orders! I just updated the titles on those videos, and I hadn't noticed before that a couple of them somehow got cut short. I'll re-upload them soon, once I finish up all the other stuff. I'm working getting up another Triumphant Returns show as well! And I still need to finish up ASD, Bonefish, and Idle Chatter. Whew!
Hey Jeremy! I just wanted to tell you that I have heard the record and I love it. Well done! I hope to have the opportunity to see you live or maybe even play a show together sometime. Keep on rockin'!
Sycronicity! I found your CD in my car on the back seat floor today. Don't get me wrong, after your Nobrow performance I played you in my car for about 2 weeks, then I guess I tossed the CD in the back seat. I don't know when I will be in Boise next, but I hate to say my grandparents who live on Quail Creek Country Club are fading. So they could go anywhere from now to 5-10 years. I could be up for a funeral, or hopefully for just a visit. Then I just ran into your page whilst looking for another friend.
I hope you are doing well and let me know next time you are in SLC!
Thank you very much! Loving your sounds too. That must have been some night supporting the halo benders =) We had the pleasure of opening for Camera Obscura last year. which was nice to say the least.
