The Vestals are a dynamic and inventive four-piece rock band fronted by brothers Jeremy and Ben Gordon (both providing vocals and guitar), with Mark Weigle on bass and a revolving slew of great drummers including Mario Garza, Nick Pichet and Noah Levy (Honeydogs, Five for Fighting, Golden Smog). Both brothers were individually awarded a John Lennon Songwriting prize and have been writing and recording music since as far back as they can remember. The Vestals' vast pile of critical acclaim for their self-titled debut album helped them earn four Minnesota Music Award nominations including rock album of the year. Their brand new album, “Songs About Girls…and other mysteries” was produced by Jason Orris (Soul Asylum, Jayhawks, Golden Smog) and was released by Warming House Records on May 6, 2006. Here's what some have said:

"The Vestals could be a collegiate classic. The band has polish, a Night Effects-like gleam that grins ear-to-ear between guitars, drum, and keyboards." Kate Silver, CityPages

"The Vestals’ second album, Songs About Girls…And Other Mysteries is a focused, driving pop record that again shows off the songwriting and arranging talents of brothers Ben and Jeremy Gordon. Songs cross the spectrum of sonic colors, but this rainbow is perfect for the summer. The record is a thinking pop fan’s June and July (okay, and August)." Luther Hermanson, 30music.com

"In other words, there's something for everyone here, and we have another top-10 contender for 2006." Absolute Powerpop

"Rather than producing a follow-up in the vein of their well-received debut, however, the Vestals opted to blow the doors wide open on Songs About Girls’ 14 tracks." Rob van Alstyne, Pulse of the Twin Cities

"...speaking of harmonies, brothers Ben and Jeremy Gordon's voices are magnet and steel..." Carla Utrie, Rollingstone.com

"Wherever these spectrums exist together, that of intense knowing and a lack of needing to know anything, you will find the music of the Vestals." Tamara Turner, CDBaby.com

"Ben and Jeremy Gordon are the Jon Brion and Jason Falkner of the Twin Cities." Amplifier Magazine

Gentlemen...I know you're big Beatles fans. Then do me a favor and check out Locksley tomorrow night (Saturday, 6/16) at the Triple Rock for an early show (doors at 5pm). I guarantee you'll be impressed!
On Monday 4th June 2007 between 1.30pm and 3.45pm a rehearsal for Liverpool’s Big Sing will be held at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. Thirteen schools from Merseyside will be represented by their choirs to sing a new charity song called Warchild.
The song Warchild originally written by musician /actor Chris O’Neill, from the award winning film Backbeat, where he played the part of George Harrison. After seeing the plight of starving children shown on the ITV programme This Morning, when they were raising awareness for the charity Warchild.
The new recording will be available for a very small charge on download from www.indiestore.com/chrisoneill. For every £40 pounds made from these proceeds, incredibly, we can feed a child for a whole year who has been orphaned by Aids in Africa! A very small price to pay to save a child’s life.
Happy hump day from Cities Live! Hope you can tune in to the show this Sunday! If you have any requests or comments please feel free to leave us a voice comment so we can play it on the air.
Tyron Edwards: Wonderful Life Quotes
The great end of education is to discipline rather than to furnish the mind; to train it to the use of its own powers, rather than fill it with the accumulation of others.
Thomas H. Huxley: Wonderful Life Quotes
The great end of life is not knowledge but action.
Williams James: Wonderful Life Quotes
The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.
