Pretty eclectic. At one end of the scale I've been a rock musician (well... drummer, does that count?) for too many years to own up to. So I get drawn to anything that moves me. So the Mars Volta are up there on the list, basically because their musicianship is outstanding, and as a drummer, I so wish I could play with that kind of speed and intensity. I love bands that are achingly honest and passionate as well as challenging. To be honest I rarely listen to lyrics unless the music drags me in first, so Nightwish and Lacuna Coil are always near the top of the play list, and I'm looking forward to getting Within Temptation's latest offering. I want music both to take me out of myself, and to drive me deeper in too.
Sorry, this is a bit of a ramble rather than a list. I've been inspired by Muse ever since I first heard the opening strains of New Born on Origin of Symmetry, and having got into world music a bit more of recent years, bands like Pure Reason Revolution who can pull together so many different influences are fab, as are Afro Celts. But then I have the quieter moments, when I seriously need to chill to the likes of Loreena McKennit.

Felt it was time for a change - but still on the topic of sesame street and muppets. However, when I did the quiz, I probably should have guessed the outcome....
You Are Animal
A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.
You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.
But you sure can beat a good drum.
"Kill! Kill!"
Pretty much anything by James Alison. If you thought you understood Christianity and the whole death and resurrection of Christ thing, and you haven't read anything by this man, consider yourself in need of some serious bookworm time...
Welcome, whoever you are, and however you found me. Thank you to those who take the time to post comments on the blogs. I find them really helpful as they get me thinking in new ways too, and thinking about things I might not otherwise have come across.
So sit back, put your feet up, enjoy the music (it changes most weeks and if you have other tastes you can always turn the speakers down), have a drink and a read, potter around a little and maybe decide which Sesame Street character you are!
Hope you are feeling good. Maybe I will meet you at the gathering next year? I put up my first video on Youtube. Here is the link: www. youtube. com/watch?v=MBjlUbbGI20
Thanks for finding me on here and for your lovely words about my performance! It was great to meet you again and chat with you at the campfire! I really enjoyed your performance too - Eve and the Garden rock!! :-) I'm looking forward to next years gathering already! Lisa
...however, as is evidenced by the fact that this subsequent message appears AFTER the first, these effects do in fact filter down to the non-cosmological experience also. take for instance, the feeling that you can't find your car keys, only to in fact find them in your pocket all along after 2 hours of searching and multiple assertions that 'they can't possibly by in there!'. this i clearly an example of Time's Arrow Deconstructed and brings hope to all of us. this is not as previously thought an effect of having past one's 40th birthday (thus also a myth) but in fact the expression of a wider cosmic truth. this also accounts for the sudden realisation that you have walked into a room, sure of your need to do something, but frankly at a loss to remember what. this is just another example of wavefunction collapse and nothing to be worried about. re: your current quandry over hours in the wrong order... of course you are right, and firmly have Arthur Eddington to thank for your current difficulties with his postulates on Time's Arrow - however, it now appears the man was a buffoon and cosmologists have now possibly offered you a sliver of solace. whilst waiting for the coffee to brew and pizza to arrive some 'clever people' (TM) have decided that Time's Arrow is in fact frog hooey and in fact the universe is not ascending from chaos to order nor vice versa as first suspected, but is in fact doing as it damn well pleases...
*grins* Fresh mint my dear! You know I'm not thát Dutch! I've got an English heart! ;) Although do ask Hayley about my special tea mix... Nothing illegal and yet it's got a very nice relaxing effect... lol!

Liking the Muse video very much. Such a special sound he has. Such passion always strikes me at the core as well, making me want to perform too. Of course loving the Albannach as well... :) x
Wonderful weekend it was with lots of music and singing! And also good the donations were quite substantial! I do think the EATG and nChant mix together did very nice as well! I liked it to sing with a bit more back up. Quite powerful. :)
Hey Paul, I see what you mean about the blurb... Are you really 99? Wow, you do not look it...!! Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks, A xx
Hey Paul, just wanted to say it was great seeing you and Ali this weekend - albeit for a short time! Can't wait for Greenbelt and the rehearsal weekend. Hope the drive home was ok and see you in a few weeks. Take care, love and thoughts to you both, Kathryn x
