In 2005, the band recorded their first EP, Rutherford. During those early years, a small but loyal fan base emerged, willing to sail through the oft-traversed Chicago pop scene with The Victory Gins at the helm.

Fast-forward to 2008 and, after a short hiatus, a few changes to the lineup, and a new EP, Ego, Check, The Victory Gins are embarking on a full frontal attack of music. The Victory Gins are fronted by vocalist and lead guitarist, Alex Maier, with Clay Bail on second guitar, Alain Milotti on bass, and Antony Demekhin on drums. Drawing inspiration from jazz all the way to metal, the four musicians offer something for everyone’s musical palate.

The band’s music is best described as power-pop, but often cruises the realms of pop-punk and metal. The Victory Gins have been compared to bands such as The Police, The Darkness, and Coheed and Cambria, with Maier’s voice often likened to a metal-infused Jeff Buckley.

The Victory Gins have played numerous venues in Chicago, including Double Door, Schubas, Beat Kitchen, Elbo Room, Morseland, and Wise Fools’ Pub, among others, always leaving the aftertaste of astonishment among concertgoers.

“We just try to make music that people would get excited to hear, with dizzying highs, desperate lows, and creamy nougat centers,” says Maier.

With their high energy live show, searing synth leads, and blistering riffs, the Victory Gins will commandeer every music-lover’s “Top 25 Most Played” iPod playlist with a vengeance.
