Coming soon to the Big Victory: Ten Cent Night by Marisa Wegrzyn
Summary: Country singer Hewitt Finley has shot himself in the head and his daughter, Roby, is hitting the road, hoping to leave behind her failed music career and the boyfriend who can’t say her name. With a folding chair handcuffed to one hand and a guitar case full of stolen cash in the other, Roby hitchhikes her way home to Burkeville, Texas to save her heart-sick little sister. Roby’s twin, Dad’s mistress, and the owner of the cash all end up on the Finley porch to fight over Dad’s royalties and their hatred of the song that made him famous.
An offbeat comedy from a time when a dime could buy you a phone call home, Ten Cent Night plays like a classic country song. With the Texas landscape behind them, four siblings are forced to come together in the place none of them want to call home and confront the realities they have been trying to avoid. Can they move beyond their rivalries or will their past differences drive them apart? Funny and unsettling, Ten Cent Night explores the nature of family, and whether it is possible to love your family too much..

HISTORY
Built as a labor of love in 1979 by founders Tom Ormeny and Maria Gobetti, the Victory Theatre Center has a history of producing quality shows aimed at giving the community thought-provoking and entertaining theatrical experiences. These live theatrical events serve as an intellectual and emotional touchstone of expression — a place whereplaywrights can realize their unique visions — a place where audiences can share in a deeper sense of humanity.
Now in its 27th season, the Victory Theatre Center has produced hundreds of productions resulting in numerous artistic nominations and awards. But as impressive as those accolades are – it is the artistic vision and development of new voices for the American theatre that sets the Victory apart. By combining quality productions within an intimate playing space – the Victory Theatre Center offers a rich theatrical experience to each person who walks through the door. The Victory Theatre Center is a multi-disciplinary venue consisting of two theatres, the Gobetti-Ormeny Acting Studio and a dramaturge and development division dedicated to nurturing new work by local and national writers.

A Theatre Unleashed Original! Pin-Up Girls follows a troupe of San Francisco burlesque dancers as they encounter the new-found freedom American women discovered during World War II, forcing them to reshape traditional gender roles for good. It is a play that finds inspiration in the classic screw ball comedies of Frank Capra and Howard Hawkes, and yet lives as a piece of entertainment all to itself. Writer/director Andrew Moore harnesses the music and style of the time to capture the sexy world of burlesque, creating not just a show, but an entertainment experience like no other! L.A.'s newest theatre troupe infuses elements of Japanese kuroko and dance into its production, offering a darker twist on this Shakespeare classic and highlighting the struggles of man versus nature in a far away land.
