Band MembersThe recordings are Greg on guitar, banjo, mandolin, drums, cellos, saxophones, glockenspiel, and vocals. Tim Monger (accordion) and Jim Roll (backing vocals, some engineering) helped out on the recording of Ingrid. It looks impressive, but the truth is that Greg is not even mildly proficient on any of the above instruments. That's why they invented punch in/out technology, so assholes like him can give their bloated egos a fair workout. It's a good thing he doesn't have pro-tools, otherwise it'd be even more grotesque. He should go back to washing dishes or sweeping automotive shops for wages below the Federal minimum.

The live band is now only Greg (see? What a fucking narcissist...) but at one point included (and may someday again include):

Matt Collar - trumpet
Rich Griffith - bass
Fido Kennington - drums
Josh Tillinghast - accordion
Gregory McIntosh - guitar

InfluencesScott Walker, Tony Burrows (Edison Lightouse, Flower Pot Men, etc.), Nina Nastasia, Free Design, Jacques Brel, Julian Cope, Camper Van Beethoven, Paul Simon, Television, Trip Shakespeare, Charles Mingus, Little Huey Creative Music Ensemble, Jean Derome, Elvis Presley, Caetano Veloso, Os Mutantes, Lô Borges, Milton Nascimento, the Kinks, Brian Dewan, Baby Dee, Great Lakes Myth Society

   About The Victrolas
DO NOT PURCHASE THE SONGS IN THE SNOCAP PLAYER ABOVE! THEY ARE BY A DIFFERENT "THE VICTROLAS" AND THEIR SONGS HAVE BEEN PUT HERE BY A GLITCH IN MYSPACE'S OR SNOCAP'S SOFTWARE.

Asshole MySpace. I knew I should have sent that cease and desist order to the other The Victrolas when they popped up. Just kidding. I don't really care if there's 900 bands called "The Victrolas," I'm just sure both the Victrolas, TN and the Victrolas, MI (me) want their songs on their page, not mine.

* * * * *

A vanity project of Great Lakes Myth Society multi-instrumentalist Gregory McIntosh, the Victrolas are at once a cathartic release, a sour pill, a 4-track anomaly, and a publicity nightmare. Of his sprawling project, says McIntosh, "Sprawling? Shit, so far it's just me and a fucking 4-track."

Clearly drunk during his interview, McIntosh failed to mention the only release of his catalog thus far, the Found Magazine 7", which features the song "Ingrid." While the basic tracks for "Ingrid" did indeed begin on 4-track, the song was pulled together one evening at the home studio of musician and producer Jim Roll with the help of Roll, musician Brian Lillie, and McIntosh's fellow GLMS member, Timothy Monger.

Buzzing fairly hard on a mixture of cheap, red wine and battery acid, McIntosh muses over the concept of "Ingrid" and how it's inclusion on the 7" fits the mission statement of Found.

Gregory McIntosh: "It's about a fuggin playing card."
Freeman White: "A playing card?"
GM: "Yeapper."
FW: "What?"
GM: "I said yup. It’s a playing card; a two o' diamonds."
FW: "Oh. That's all? There's no deep meaning within the incredible web of luscious imagery (so amazing, it will likely forever transform the acceptable standards of pop music’s vernacular)?”
GM: Welp, the card had the name ‘Ingrid’ written on it...[inaudible] Perhlllp! Give me your money.”
FW: “I will not. So, the card was found by someone, hense it's inclusion on the Found Magazine seven inch?”
GM: “I don’t, I just [inaudible]”
FW: “Pardon?”
GM: “I fucking hate you.”
FW: “Well your song isn’t good anymore. It used to be before I talked to you, but it sucks now.”
GM: “Whatever. Stab, stab, stab!”

And the interview was suddenly over. Sadness filled the room as the world mourned the downhill slide of yet another bullshit artist when he looks at an interviewer and, with a quick striking motion and stunning dexterity, flits his heavy arms like wings and yells “stab” three times before collapsing in a pile on the floor.

~ Freeman White

Well I've opened a can of worms here. I am down with The kelly and Brian. They were both at a show at the basement we were all at, very fun. the band in question lake, check me out on the profile. Also I think john has been keeping in touch with them two. We were supposed to meet up at the daniel johnston show but twas a no go. Do you have interest in dj?

Also lets see I am very excited about the prospect of actual new victrolas recordings. Very exciting. Let me know how it goes.

Bad friend is releasing our second ep, we are a slow moving beast. The rest of the band likes ping pong and dominoes far too much for their own good. I however have written on and half songs this year. Procrastination, you know how it goes. We recorded seven tracks for an album release and are scheduled to record three more in November.

This recording session will be in the studio warehouse next to the one where yo la tengo always records, so thats a little exciting. Also a bit intimidating.

December sounds like a possibility, what are the plans?
