PS The Dawn Parade remain the most fabulous band owned by a friend that I have ever seen, and thats a much higher acolade than it might sound.

"The Dawn Parade" was ranked Number Two album of 2006 on one writer's Year-End Roundup for L.A. music paper The Rockit. I know because I am that writer! Check out the second list down and bask in the accolades.

Dec 5 2006 8:52 AM

When The Visions return.
In a dark arena somewhere in England the crammed auditorium is a sea of noise and excitement. Scuffles break out as people fight for places at the front. A nervous manager hops from foot to foot waiting for The Visions to be ready to play.
Finally it's time, as the band members file out of the dressing room and walk onstage to a wave of sound. The band grab their instruments, ready to play and Greg steps up to the microphone.
The Audience suddenly goes silent, waiting. Then the opening notes of Morriseys tongue rumble out from the bass and drums, hesitantly at first then strongly as the guitar and vocals come in. Suddenly everything is noise again. Classic after classic roles out to screams and shouts of delight.
In the front row, those long term fans are jumping around swinging their lighters from side to side, bawling the lyrics back at the triumphant band as Greg raises his guitar in salute to the audience. Suddenly subtly, something is returned to the world which it never knew was missing.

*sniffle
Such a damn shame you guys split up, it really galls me I only saw you play live once.
Just on the off-chance, does anyone have any tabs of The Visions/The Dawn Parade? I'd love it if you could contact me on my myspace.

Just dropped in again for my regular 'fix' of your music. So sad there will be no more. BUT I have a copy of Greg's original solo CD, 'On the Steps of the Bright Madhouse' and I would never, never part with it!

Sep 9 2006 9:15 AM

It's been days since I came here and learned the band was no more, and I'm still feeling bereft. At first I was so mad all I wanted to do was kick things - really, really hard! Then I just sat and cried. :`(

I mourn for what could have been, the great music that now will not be heard. It's absolutely criminal your album won't see proper release!! And dammit, I wanted to buy one. *sniffle*

Best wishes to all involved. I hope the future holds very bright things for you.

- Katharine

P.S. Is there any chance the album can be put up for download somewhere, or is burning cd's the only option? I dont know anybody. . . .

Still so disappointed the world won't easily hear your gifts.

Sep 6 2006 3:45 PM

Rubbish... The only half-decent (alright, fucking fantastic) band I've found on here and you've split up. Pah.

If anyone's got the album, burn me a copy? Please? I'll pay postage etc. Message me, yah.

Hey that's a shame.
So, any idea what's next or is this the end of a long and underrated musical career for Greg and the guys? It doesn't seem 5mins since the previous incarnation of The Dawn Parade split back in July 2003.
You'll have my support whatever you do next.
All the best

Aug 31 2006 10:09 AM

sad sad news. I first doubt'd Morrissey's optimism on a future where all is well, and with you guys splitting up, he's a few steps further away.

take it easy, good luck with what you guys do next

RIP the Visions

Cripes - I came on here to see if there was new dates or anything like that concerning The Visions to find out you were no more. Its a dame shame I say, but it looked inevitable.

If any of you lot are looking for somewhere to play, I've got a gig promotion venture thing going on and we'd be more than up for putting you on.

For all the times at the Royal Park Cellars in Leeds and that once at the York Fibbers, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Cheers, Adam x

How can you break up this is outrageous !!! You need to take over the world, you are silly people, you could be the greatest thing to influence our planet this century but you've just decided to pack it in, I cant believe it, its so selfish !!! What if Jesus had just decided not to use his super powers to help people and just decided hed run his course !!! THINK OF THE CHILDREN !!!!

um will any of you continue to make music solo or with other bands other genres etc or is this the end of your musical careers completely ??

Im gonna cry. :(

To hell with the Astoria, the worst sounding venue in the whole world. Good riddance and may it rot in hell.

Aug 18 2006 4:08 PM

In case you don't know, The Mean Fiddler have applied for planning permission to demolish The London Astoria (and The LA2, aka The Mean Fiddler etc) to re-develop as shops and offices.

Now I'm sure you all appreciate just exactly how much we all need even more shops and offices at the junction of Oxford Street, Tottenham Court road and Charing Cross Road (right opposite the empty Centrepoint building) and it's not like there's an abundance of decent sized live music venues in Central London (in fact there isn't one other decent one for miles) so here's your chance to do something about it:
