Formed in November of 2006, the Vista is a group
of musicians who met while attending the
University of Victoria, and who continue to practice
and perform on a regular basis.
Their music has its roots in Rock, Jazz and Funk
and each song is the product of seven different creative
minds reaching a place of convergence.
With their laid-back and easy-going attitude, the band
is well-received by audiences.

BIOGRAPHY
September 2006. Reenie from Vancouver wanted to start a band. Here she was a first year percussionist at the University of Victoria surrounded by musicians, forming a band would be easy.
On the music school bulletin board Reenie posted a want ad for a bassist and for a drummer. Tom and Ryan responded. Tom is from New Brunswick and Ryan is from Toronto.
In November the band wrote its first song "Permanent Vacation" and competed in Uvic's Battle of the Bands. With the onset of summer vacation, two of the horn players left for home and were replaced with Shelder, Eden and Nick. Of the original horn section Andrew is the only one who remained.
The band continues to grow and strengthen with each performance. In the fall they performed at Swans Brewpub adding covers of James Brown("I Feel Good"), Ben Harper("Steal My Kisses"), the Average White Band("Pick-Up the Pieces") and Herbie Hancock("Chameleon") among others to the list. The band played four sets, from 9pm until 1am without repetition.

yo dudes! i'm the worst friend ever, i fully planned on going to your show all week, then found it 1030pm on friday night in gordon head, out of steam. it's midnight now, and i'm heading to bed...i'm lame i know.
