  • Bio

Jacques Brel, Adolf Sax, Tintin…prepare to add another Belgian name to the list. The Vogues. Soul bass lines, 6O's garage riffs, a pinch of baggy and glam-rock attitude delivered though bass, drums, twin electric guitars, lead and backing vocals and occasional sleazy harmonica. A bit of a cliché? Definitely! But none the worse for that. After gigs in Belgium (including opening for Dirty Pretty Things – Carl Barat is a fan), France, Holland and the UK, the Vogues won Pure FM's Pure Demo competition, contributed songs to the Startin Pop compilation Volumes 3 and 4 (Bang!) and released a 6 track ep in Winter 2009. Video performances have been captured by AtticAddict (France) and TeleBrussel (Belgium). The first LP (recorded with Julien Paschal from Piano Club, Sharko) is scheduled for release in January 2011. Before that, a short tour of France and many concerts closer to home.

  • Influences

The Vogues: Volgens de mensen die het kunnen weten is dit een van de heetste nieuwe dingen die onze zuiderburen de wereld te bieden heeft op dit moment. (T-Shu.com) THE VOGUES- Belgian band doing a Gallic hued indie pop. From Brussels, looking to get a fan base in London. Actually, they are tres bien at this lo-fi indie rock! Can definitely hear some Strokes and Arctic Monkeys nuances in the vocals. (Bugbear booking agency-London)
  • Sounds Like

Well dressed rock'n roll !!! "I'll wrap things up with a little continental flair, in the form of these lovelies from Brussels. The Vogues love their British bands, and definitely wouldn't sound out of place played alongside 70s era Kinks or the Stone Roses. The Vogues fit into the retro Brit rock genre rather nicely with "A Toy for A Boy" (and, well, all their other songs). The "ooh ooh's" in the chorus ices the proverbial cake." (Lose Record.com)
