"The Threads That Connect Us"
In the summer of 2003 VoR launched a new economic development project for Romani women. This co-operative venture between the women of two cultures, is part of VOR's focus on bringing people together to work toward common goals. VOR supplies the materials and design concepts for decorator pillows to be embroidered by Romani women in Kosovo and assembled by women in California.
KARFIN - a service for adoptive parents
In 2008, Voice of Roma helped initiate start up of an exciting list-serve for adoptive parents of Roma children. The brain child of VOR board member Petra Gelbart, KARFIN gives adoptive parents of Roma kids a chance to share information, discuss challenges they are facing, and encourage celebration of Roma cultural traditions. Over
fifty parents are members of this very active Yahoo group, and the number of parents involved is growing. To join the list serve go to Yahoo groups and type KARFIN into your browser. For info. contact Petra Gelbart at petragelbert@gmail.com or Sally Hindman at
