Sounds Like
"The Völtz are goin’ places man! Miss out on ’em at your peril. In my opinion they’re the cream of the crop at the moment. Keep on rockin’ boys."
Clint Boon, Inspiral Carpets / XFM Manchester
"Influences of The Stone Roses and Oasis are apparent, but this sound is fresh, powerful and infectious"
Richard Lancashire - Classic Rock Society Magazine
The Völtz formed in late 2005 in Headingley, North Leeds. They played their first gig to a sold out Leeds Cockpit five weeks later. The following year was spent writing songs, recording, and refining their live sound (not to mention building their own recording and rehearsal studio in the process). Their first demo CD was finally completed in late 2006, and received rave reviews from both critics and fans alike.
The band’s sound has been likened to the classic guitar bands of the 1990s, with the brute sonic aura and attitude of early Oasis, guitar riffs that are catchy and heavy in equal measure, and the intrinsic embrace of synthesizers, orchestral instruments, and Hammond organ. Most importantly however, they write great songs.
The band became one of the few unsigned acts to ever be played on the Radio One Breakfast Show when Chris Moyles played their music in July 2007. They also won a slot at the O2 Wireless Festival at Harewood House, Leeds, after winning a competition run by BBC Look North. Add to that being chosen by Clint Boon as his Unsigned Demo of the Week on Xfm Manchester, and having their music used on Umbro.com and ITV's Soccer Night, and you'll realise you're only just seeing the beginnings of what this band can achieve.
The Völtz’s debut single 'Prophecy' is now available for download through iTunes, and on limited edition individually-numbered CD. The CD features a bonus track and will be available in the following independent record shops...
Leeds: Crash Records, Jumbo Records Manchester: Piccadilly Records London: Bugbear Discs, Rough Trade Huddersfield: Wall of Sound
And if you don't live anywhere near any of the above fear not, you can purchase the CD from the Crash Records online store.
