The von Trapp Children: Sofia, Melanie, Amanda, and Justin are the great grandchildren of the Captain and Maria von Trapp whose story captivated the world in the musical The Sound of Music. Nearly forty years after the film debuted in 1965, these four siblings decided to carry on a family tradition and soon captivated the hearts of the young and old a around the world.
The Children took up this legacy six years ago when the eldest was not yet past the age of 13. They found themselves singing in prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House, and performing as pops orchestra guest artists with major symphonies such as the Boston Pops, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, and many more major symphonies, going over seas they also performed with Symphonies in Korea.
They performed for a variety of media including appearances in Good Morning America (ABC), Fox and Friends (Fox News), Today NBC, Blue Peter (BBC), QVC Network and numerous top 20 market Television morning and news shows. Print Coverage includes The New York Time, Parade, People, LIFE, Good Housekeeping, HELLO, Associated Press, The London Sun, and dozens of local newspapers.
Along with the timeless pieces from The Sound of Music, the foursome performs a variety of classical pieces, old traditional songs from different parts of the world and American favorites such as Spirituals, and Broadway. Touring Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe and North America, and during their performances they tell the stories passed down from the older generation.
The von Trapp Children have recorded five albums: The von Trapp Children vol.1, and The von Trapp Children vol.2 their first and second album made up of folk songs they grew up with and were taught to them by the older von Trapp generation, along with some songs from The Sound of Music, they also made a Christmas album titled:Christmas With the von Trapp Children, re-released 2006.
They currently made the album the von Trapp Children A Cappella, which is now released and is comprised of a cappella (just voices)songs from Sound of Music, folk, world, and religious pieces.
A new Christmas album made up of entirely original, songs written and produced by Jay Chattaway and Wayne Lammers entitled SNOW, which was just released in 2007 and is now available!
The foursome just released their Live DVD to the public! Their entire show with songs, stories, and commentary from the older generation along with some history.
