About me: Public house that used to exist on Nab Lane, Blackburn. Now only exists in memory as it has since been demolished. Was a fundamental experience for many a young student of both life and college. Frequented by all types, no distinctions made, a Bohemian oasis for hedonists and headcases alike.
Pictures of some people who inhabited those sacred walls
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who is able to remember this public house and is willing and able to divulge tales of merryment and excess.
Please pass this page to anyone you think may be interested, thanks

Last Saturday Englands Dreamin played a great couple of sets @ Frankys Bar in Darwen..... Next Live night is Sat 21st March with EXIT STATE & DJ playin loadsa classik rock metal punk indie rock n roll...... Also check out the TWISTERELLA night Sat 7th March @ Frankys Bar
And Darwen Festival live Sun 24th & Mon 25th May, bands galore..... Other nights TBC..... EXIT STATE demonstrate a sound that combines the melodic qualities of indie with the innovation of rock and the power of metal that saw them described in the May 08’s edition of Rocksound Magazine as “Satisfyingly heavy, unexpectedly catchy, unashamedly experimental and curiously engaging - Impressive”.
Does anyone know what happened to the wooden Brough Superior plaque/carving that was on the left as you came through the door.Spent many an hour totally wasted plannin on the day i was goin to have away with it. Who was the guy (sat afternoons mainly) who always fancied himself as a Paul Rogers and bellowed along every time ..Alright Now.. came on the juke box. Also wot was the name of the guy who had his bushy beard shaved off for charity . Ive not got alzheimers dont worry its just those years are a bit of a blur but i do remember it was the best pub ive ever frequented and ever will. GOD I MISS IT !!
Dazed and confused Rock nite, at Franky’s Bar in Darwen. Sat 1st Nov is going to be kind of a tribute to the Vulcan. On The night we will be playing songs that were frequently on the Jukebox as well as projecting images onto the walls, further more on the night there will be a host giveaways. The DJ for the night is Stevirox previously a Napier DJ and various other pubs and clubs. If your thinking of coming let us know any songs you may want to hear and we’ll do our best to play them. Also if anyone has any pictures etc of The Vulcan or it’s inhabitants then send them to Dazed & Confused....
Good pic's, I know a few of em. Bez, nathan, Lee, Mad Ken..... The Damned were often on the Jukebox, new rose, smash it up and later Eloise. Punks started going in there late 70's when it was a biker pub cos it was the only place apart from ''The Balaclava'' where there were no trendy's or mods looking to kick our heads in. I first went in when I was nicking off school and it changed my life. We used to drop singles behind the bar to go on the jukebox. This is when the back was two small rooms and the one on the way to the bogs was called ''Aggi's Den'' where the jukebox was. Played there a few times and rehearsed there for a while early 80's. Some of the best nights ever are a total blur
thank god theres still old fotos of the good old vulc! always got told it was a listed building, so would never be demolished, but there you go!spent many a happy week stuck to that carpet! aaah!to be young again!!!x
I'm pretty sure I lived here more than at home.
God bless the good folk of the vulcan , thanks for the education of life and a haven of freedom. May boulder burns never appear on their carpets.
May your stash pots never run dry and may pints of Castle Eden cost us all 49p again.
