    "Love it. Free hot dog Fridays are the best. Although it is really just a icehouse/bar, don't be put off. People bring dogs and kids. Food is easy to get from vendors walking through - I've gotten a wide variety of fare - handmade tamales, pizza, etc. for just a few bucks. You never know what will be offered if they are out of hot dogs ... Real old fashioned ice house and neighborhood hangout. Wide variety of patrons from bikers to downtown attorneys to neighborhood folks. What a local dive should be."

    "Whether it's beer for breakfast, or an after work ice-cold one...West Alabama is the perfect place to start...or end your day."

    "Stopped by there while visiting Houston on some business. Never knew what an icehouse was before going there. Not only do I know what one is now, I also know now what a real one is like. Place is awesome. Friendly patrons,great staff and cold beer."

    "I’m all about “old school” and this place is awesome! I love hanging out, listening to great live music (Friday and Saturday usually) or listening to their jammin’ juke box, drinking cold beers with my good friends and with the new friends I meet here!"

    "Colin does serve the best hot dogs in Houston on Friday night, and the people who come are the nicest you can find !!! Hot bartenders too."

    "The 'icehouse' is a true Texas tradition. It's an open air beer bar. People come to relax and have a cold beer to beat the Texas heat. The West Alabama Ice House has been around forever and is a Houston landmark. Many generations have been to this locale to kick back and have a cold one."

    To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine...and those who don't.

    As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom,
    in beer there is freedom,
    in water there is bacteria.

    In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated
    that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria ... found in faeces.
    In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

    However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whisky or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting..
    Remember.... Water = Poop
    Wine = Health
