Originally known as The War Amps, this Moosejavian trio quickly discarded the name as it was considered "too insulting to amputees", despite the fact "Amps" is an inoccuous reference to amplifiers.
The Warbrides jammed for ages in their dark dank basement, but hadn’t really gigged together (in this 3-piece configuration anyway) until the tail-end of 2007, playing their first live show at the historic Mae Wilson Theatre (at home) in Moose Jaw. The trio is built of the solid Warren Karst on bass and the trouble-making Ross brothers (Tyler – drums/vocals; Kalen – guitar/vocals/keys). Now, partially based in Saskatoon, these 3 mean business.
The Warbrides play a dirty, fuzzed-out rock that is precise in its execution. It’s a hammering sound full of unique guitar tone dents and chips of well controlled changes. Their musical lineage includes QOTSA, Fanny Adams, Fu Manchu, DFA 1979, Kings of Leon, Sloan, and the Stooges among others. Check out the rhythm, the solos, and the vocal treatments that are deeply their own. This is carousing music that begs you for a punch in the mouth.
In February 2008, the dudes banged out a 5.5 song demo with brothers Barrett and Paul (The Blood Lines/Foam Lake). At present, they are almost done putting togther a full record to be released May 2009. Fingers crossed. Oh yes, The Warbrides will leave an indelible mark on the scene. So it goes. You've been put on notice.
you guys should post a photo of your album artwork so I can put it on my ipod.. I hate having no picture. And on that note... Lions sounds awesome you guys and I have been listening to it non-stop since Saturday!
Man, okay so I have been listening to you guys record for a month or so and it just doesn't compare to the final product. Barrett just put it in and I gotta say it is great! You guys did an awesome job....i love it. Will see you on Saturday!
I'm pretty bummed you took down fear rock'n'roll. Used to be my favorite. I demand a copy in repayment for this crime. And you should probably just keep playing it
