About me: Bio
It wasn’t before the age of 15 that Arjan van Vliet (The Watcher) began to develop a serious interest in music. Falling in love with soundsystem culture and U.K-based trip-hop bands like Massive Attack, Lamb, Morcheeba and Portishead, he soon ended up experimenting with genres like Detroit techno, deephouse and Jamaican dub. Given this fact, it couldn’t take long before he stumbled upon a Jungle track: P-Funk – Expanding Minds.
Immediately being hooked on the heavy edited amen breaks and low stabbing basslines, Arjan began to collect mix-cd’s, eventually buying LTJ Bukem’s Logical Progression. Inspired by the warm and grooving sounds of LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking label, he began buying drum ‘n bass vinyl at Rotterdam’s Triple Vision record store, followed by the purchase of dj-gear at the age of 17. It was then that his The Watcher moniker was born, wich is based upon his rather introvert and observing personality.
After fierce practising and a healthy development of taste and skills, an online demo got snapped up by Fre4knc and Silvahfonk, and they offered Arjan the opportunity to play an one hour set on their Royal & Raw radio show. After that, he made several more appearances at the well-respected online radio station Jungletrain, playing on shows hosted by Dutch crews such as Pitchcontrol and Cultural Evolution.
2007 proved to be the year for Arjan. Playing in clubs all over the country, finishing in second place at a dj talent contest hosted by the infamous Utreg Massive, teaming up with fellow talent and new found partner Cerberus and getting nominated for a Dutch Drum 'n Bass Award, he quickly made his mark on the Dutch scene as an ambitious new kid on the block.
Nowadays, Arjan is a dj who’s passionate about drum ‘n bass, and is determined to push good music and bring the human element and warmth in drum ‘n bass back on the dancefloors.
His sound is heavily influenced by his trip-hop background, and can be described as deep, warm, rhythmic and rolling liquid funk with hints of soul, jazz, dub and Detroit techno.

Ik had je request bijna weggegooid, dacht dat het weer spam was van een of andere band :p Wist niet dat jij zo met muziek bezig was! Leuk :) Alvast succes met je optreden in Utrecht!
alles gaat flex man! Ik heb nieuw, chill, hevig maar leuk werk en idd m'n gear. Het mixen gaat me redelijk af alleen ik doe het pas een krappe week, dus absolutely te weinig platen, geen opbouw en redelijk vaak ECHT op de verkeerde momenten ingemixed :D
Maar ik oefen elke dag 1,5 tot 2 uur en koop elke maand circa 10+ platen :)
Hoe is 't met jou? Al flink geoefend voor jou optreden @ UM009's Talent Contest? Je draaide destijds @ Hoekselijn super zomers :D BIG! was dat. Ik ben echt benieuwd hoe jou setje gaat klinken.

Ja was gezellig! Leuk dat je erbij was :) Hoop dat je een beetje hebt kunnen slapen ondanks Brams gesnurk, of ja gesnurk...ik weet niet wat voor geluiden hij aan het produceren was eigenlijk... :P

Laat ik het zo zeggen, ik was het zelf ook bijna vergeten. :P Ik ken haast niemand die MySpace heeft dus blijf meer bij Hyves hangen, en m'n MySpace ligt een beetje te verstoffen. :P Hoe gaat ie? Ga je mee paintballen met mij en Erik en Jeffrey? :D
