Sounds Like
Per The Village Voice, "The Beatles and The Clash get together and go surfing."
Steve grew up on a diet of Elvis Costello, Joe jackson, Clash and The Beatles. Teased as a schoolboy for listening to The Violent Femmes (they didn't even sound french) he quickly realized that most people hadn't a clue. His pilgrimage led him to the NYC lower east side to see the best bands you've never heard of: Oral Groove, The Rooks, The United States Three, The Gripweeds etc... then across to Europe to hone his own art.
A chance meeting with Mustang A. Leavens in med school added a driving beat to the mix.
Mustang had been picking his chops up from a variety of sources but mostly attributes his art to the tutelage of Jerry Augustyniak of 10,000 Maniacs fame.
Joey Trebble, owner of Allentown Music entered the fray when Steve and Mustang needed equipment. They went into Allentown Music for a mic stand and came out with a bassist. Joey grew up on a steady diet of "sex and drugs and rock and roll" and still seems to be hungry.
Their music as per The Village Voice, is a "brand new sound... ...Surf-POP. Its like The Beatles meet The Clash and go surfing".
After numerous gigs in the northeast U.S., The Waves branched out and headed to England with KILLER BEE Records. They released their album "Why Not?" in 2006 to great critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. It's available at most record shops or by direct mail if you drop a line to the boys.

Hi there The Waves first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people make sure you bookmark the link below so that in the event that we do close our myspace account you won't lose contact with us. I wish you the best of luck in your music career. Thanks again for being our myspace pal.
We have also built a pretty big music community which you are welcome to join if you want to meet new artists like yourself!
Come down for an evening of rock and roll and see Blue Rocket Trio with The Thermidors and The Found on Friday, June 16th at Nietzsche's. Show starts at 10:30 pm.
I am so glad that you support FacesForACure and are one of my friends. Together I know that we will band together, unite our community and do wonderful things to help heal those with cancer.
What can you do to support facesforacure.com further?
Check out FacesForACure.Com and consider adding to the digital mosaic that I am working diligently to fill up completely. The wall stands for strength, motivation and inspiration to aid the healing of the millions of cancer fighters out there.
When the wall is full, half of the proceeds will go straight to Cancer Research to help aid the discovery of the cure. At that point, another wall will be opened up so we can continue to create a visual of our strong community.
Thank you very much for your prayers and thoughts sent out to my mother as she and millions of others fight Breast Cancer.
Band together and we will beat it! Let's do so creatively by adding to the huge digital mosaic of face shots of fellow breast cancer fighters. Together our contributions will uncover the Cure!
Constant Climax? Bah! Even though those guys got more votes, probably by dragging more of their friends to the show, your performance was the real climax of the evening.
You guys clearly stole the show, judging by the way the whole crowd was worked up, dancing and cheering. The most telling moment was when the so-called winner was announced, and the Constant Climax guys stormed the stage hooting and hollering while the crowd dispersed quietly. They were the only ones celebrating their victory, not the audience!!!
