I've been playing music professionally since I was 16. I finished high school at Tulsa Memorial then traveled south to study jazz at North Texas between 1994 and 1998. I played in the four o'clock lab band and was the trombonist for several semesters for Dan Haerle's group 'The Zebra's'. During this time I took an interest in writing and arranging and in doing so started to develop an aptitude for the piano. After my stint there I headed north to Northern Illinois University (outside of Chicago in a town called Dekalb). There I played in their Jazz Ensemble under the tutelage of Ronald Carter. I also studied with several memorable and affable musicians who I remember fondly: Paul McKee, Joey Sellers and Farheed Haque. They all had much to do with my development as a musician and writer and also affected my outlook on most everything.
In 2001 I moved to Aspen, Colorado to satisfy my humble wanderlust and learn how to snowboard. I played many a gig driving up and down the valley on I-82. Even the close gigs were at least a couple hours away (ouch!!) but I had a great time there with my friends Pepe, Brian and Crissy.
Now I'm back in Tulsa and playing as much and sometimes more than I can handle. My main gigs are with my brothers band, 'The Jeff Shadley Group' and my marquee band 'Salsa Rhythm Project'. Check these bands out-few can match the on-stage live music performances of either group.
I also play in and write much of the music for the 'UP LATE' band on Tulsa's only local late show "Up Late with Ben Sumner". You can see that show on Saturday nights on CW12/19.

just private parties this weekend? I'm gonna try to make it to continental on the 20th.. there are a couple places I want to stop by downtown that nite, but you guys are high up on the priority list for that weekend...hope to see ya
