The Weary Band used to be called Valley Forge...It all started sometime in the last century with Tim and Alex recording songs on a 4-track cassette player. In early 2001 Phil joined on drums and for a while they played with Aron on bass. When Aron left he was replaced by Matt Modget, who within a week of joining was playing onstage with the 'Forge in Paris.
A year, and a few gigs passed when Matt decided, like his predecessor that 6-strings good 4-strings bad, so the band auditioned again, only to choose a friend - Tom, who played with the band for the 2003/04 season, where The Weary Band were introduced in order to play some more of Tims' 200+ back catalogue of songs. They often supported themselves at gigs, playing a over 24 songs a night. The duality was met with appreciation by audiences and even journalists - yet the A&R men who had descended upon the band like "a veritable smog" were left mightily confused.
Tom played his last low frequencies for the band in late 2004, and the band continued as a 3-piece and finished recording an debut album themselves (half weary, half valley) that was to be released on an independent label just before summer 2005, with a preceding single "Sunshine & Gold" - but the record company turned out to be wolves in sheeps' clothing (the sharp teeth should have given it away) and nothing happened.
Now settled as a four-piece with bassist Andy, the band have recently recorded a bunch of songs in Liverpools' The Ranch Studios and plan to release an album this summer.
