The debut CD from wedgepiece is now available!!! 18 tracks of "Absolute Bliss." Only $10.00
the second album
"exit l'amour"
available soon on ponk media!!!
lies about wedgepiece:
"painfully brilliant...wedgepiece draws from decades worth of indie rock - everything from Nirvana's lyrical angst to Elliott Smith's bittersweet melodies. but the result is something that transcends the sum of its parts...they've blended all those influences into something entirely their own."
fort myers news-press (7/25/08)
"contrasting catchy, singable hooks with pain-laden lyrics, wedgepiece is a southwest florida band with depth. with an acoustic pop sound reminiscent of weezer, the guitar-centric duo of scot lade and mark marinelli treat local listeners to a wholly original performance that is indie songwriting at its most insightful."
coastalbeat.com
"From the depths of the steamy, hot, and muggy south florida region (Fort Myers, Florida), comes wedgepiece. Started as an acoustic duo by Scot Lade and Mark Marinelli; sounding like the misbegotten sons of Lou Barlow and Guided By Voices, yet staking a claim to a sound that is all their own - melody, emotion and lyrics that will stir a new voice in a stale dead world of song writing."
last fm
"Raw melody and honest songwriting that delivers a unique sound."
the gulf coast times (Nov. 08)
"I’ve never collected stamps before, but I collect fortune cookie fortunes. Fortunes are about the size of stamps, only I don’t have to worry about them sticking to my hands. After listening to the refrain of 'strike while the iron was hot,' I realized that I don’t own an iron, and I’m glad that I have polyester shirts. Alas, I forget where I was going with this passage. Scot, thank you for making me realize I need to do laundry."
the TLP
"wedgepiece creates back-to-basics indie rock that emphasizes lyrics and melody over power chords and double-bass drums. the songs are about anguish and the healing power of music."
fort myers news-press (4/13/07)
wedgepiece creates music solely for their own purposes...which are selfish, to be sure, but never at the expense of honesty. their songs are immediate, memorable; a kind of simple reminder that life is not to be sung about by machines or millionaires.
in this way we concede to the dubious forces of artistic freedom. let it never be said that wedgepiece is anything but fully aware of their own short-comings and biases. without these one may as well cozy up to a nice, warm fire and take in some steely dan with co-workers and fake friends.
Hey wedgepiece!! We are so stoked for you to see the music video for our song "What I Do". So here it is! Please let us know what you think, and if you dig it you should help us blow it up by watching it as often as you can and telling everyone you know about it. Thanks so much -Mark, Jarrod, Rich, TJ
hope you had a great 4th of July!!! We just wanted to say hi and give you free download of our single "broken to Pieces." You can get it free over at purevolume.com/inviolenttimes Talk to you soon!... write back! - Bennett IVT!
Although it seems as if the days of Rockstarz are so long forgotten and our efforts now face an ever increasing struggle for survival while rippling in this steamy swamp. The Mighty Wedge Piece has not lost its luster nor tarnished in such a trying environment. Ever evolving and morphing into something new with every strum and every tacky floored smoke pit pub. We (Project 808) are honored once again to share the stage with you on our Day of Independence. Scott I am happy to have shared the info with you and offer a chance for you to showcase your art which makes our tiny tadpole puddle so unique. It truley is an opportunity and we are so pleased to share an evening with the likes of Wedge Piece and bask in the strangeness of your sound. Thanks and Good Luck. See You there. Sincerely mark of 808
