It may have come to your attention that TWH has not been begging your attention as frequently as usual. For, I have relocated temporarily to the wilderness of central Pennsylvania to follow my dream of becoming a rock star doctor. Live appearances will be cut to a couple every year, but I'll continue to record the odd song, posting here as I go. Please don't leave me; I love you.
Your pal,
Ben.
ATTN FOLKIES AND BLUESHEADS:
Powered by frontman Ben Cocchiaro’s intelligent lyrics and expert fingerpicking, The White Hat plays roots music like it’s never been played before. Sometimes a solo act, other times playing with a rotating cast of eminently talented musicians, every show is different, every blues and ballad re-imagined in real time. Described as “folk music in the voice of savage cool,” The White Hat is a folk remedy for your average blues getup, and this one’s not going down easy.
Currently on reduced touring schedule, busy with SCIENCE. Previously touring in three astounding flavors: SOLO: Acoustic fingerstyle blues and folk. DUO: With bassist Jeff Chrabaszcz, king of the upright. TRIO: With Corey Brekher on the fine jazz drums, Jeff on bass.
Also featured on "Waiting to Play for You" is the percussive genius of Colin Keller, jazz drummer extrordinaire.
The icon is a silk screen design I made for a few t-shirts. My dream is to one day be big enough that the Tintin estate will sue me. I stumbled upon your Imogen Heap cover the other day; still beautiful. Also, sweet site! I will explore it.
Thanks for the kind words. We appreciate your fresh ears.
By the way, your Almost, Maine compositions are beautiful sweet sounds to our respective and collective ears and we've all been digging them pretty hard this past week.
By and by the way, when could I obtain a copy of Waiting to Play for You? CD baby isn't putting out and I am itching to hear more recordings.
P.S. If you are trying to play a show this summer or anytime within the realm of the distant future, we would love the opportunity to come and join/hear you.
Respectfully in awe, Stephen and your Cincinnati friends/fans
