The Whiskey Pistols began playing together in 1997 as Mastermind, occasionally featuring rapper Detective Dope. Along with friends Brad Schweer and Grant Empson who have since moved on, they played around Omaha honing their talents and getting a feel for one anothers musical tastes. Tim and Gino went away to Chicago to major in music at Columbia University. Andy, Chris, and Jacob remained in Omaha focusing their attention on individual progress. Andy hammered out his funky basslines and played with fellow musician Joe Grisamore in The Trailer Rentals. Chris perfected his songwriting and guitar playing, jamming with other local musicians. Jacob performed and recorded hip hop with other local artists, particularly Galvatron, while polishing his percussion abilites. When paired together again in 2006 with Gino and his sexy lead guitar, and Tim the vituoso on drums it was instant magic. Mastermind is now the Whiskey Pistols and Detective Dope is now El Dopa, and with over ten more years under our belts we are as tight as can be and ready to funk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
