Sounds Like
sounding like a circa 1970's classic or southern rock band, the wrb sounds familiar and new all at the same time, as they blend influences from all the great music of the time, and come up with their own original sound that takes the classic and southern rock genre's into the new millenium
Founded in 1987, The Whiskey River Band is an original Connecticut band, playing the finest Southern Rock north of Dixie. They were 4-time winners of The New Haven Advocate's (local A&E paper) "Best Of" for Southern Rock/Country music - by enough of a landslide to cause them to retire the category for several years in the early 90s. Although they primarily play Southern and Classic Rock, they also incorporate Blues, Funk and Soul into their sets. Over their 20 year career, they've shared the stage with bands like Charlie Daniels, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Johnny Winter, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Doobie Brothers. The Whiskey River Band's music is currently on heavy rotation on internet-based stations AllSouthernRock.com and ConfederateRadio.net and on podcasts throughout the world.
Media reviews include:
"A blitz of melody and harmony, reminiscent of the Allman Bros. They boogie with the best." - Meriden Record-Journal
"Fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Outlaws will love this band." - Relix Magazine
"One of the region's noteworthy sextets. Tour de Force musicianship!" - Torrington Register
"These guys are the consummate party band...Be prepared to have a great time." - The New London Day
"They are the real deal...you hear influences of Ronnie-era Skynyrd and Blackfoot, yet, they are from Southern New England!" - SouthernFriedMagazine.com
