The Whiskey Saints were born in 2005 when David Bloomfield and David Sparrow met after wading through countless Los Angeles Craigslist ads. In addition to realizing they’d purchased the same Wilco album on the same day, they also discovered each other’s knack for writing great songs. Fate would have it that Craigslist would be instrumental in finding drummer Jeff Bell shortly after, as well as a bass player (who unfortunately succumbed to the rigors of having a law degree). Undaunted, the guys spoke with real live people and were introduced to mutual friend Rob Hughes, who truly came to the rescue.
The Whiskey Saints album "West" debuted in 2008 with friend and producer Jim Dineen at the helm. The solid songwriting combination of Bloomfield, Sparrow and Hughes along with Sparrow's unique yet familiar voice have helped The Whiskey Saints find their creative niche in the Los Angeles music world. With Jeff Bell behind the drums, you've got a band that's as explosive as it is expressive while they deliver their rock infused country that enjoys well-blended harmonies with raucous guitars. "West" transcends the traditional rock model, utilizing arrangements of piano, mandolin and organ to bring Sparrow's melodies to life. Drawing from influences such as Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket, Wilco and Tom Petty it's not hard to understand why The Whiskey Saints cherish and continue to pursue the American tradition of lyricism and memorable melodies.
Their credits also include the 6 song "Bootleg EP" which captures the magic of their songwriting with raw, intimate performances.
The Whiskey Saints are currently working on songs for their sophomore release. Their sound continues to evolve as they develop more powerful and dynamic American rock n' roll.
