-----------------------Here's the press release about our humble musical effort ------------------
Like an electronic kettle whistle signaling an imminent boil over, the sustained opening note of This Is Where The Fun Begins, the first track on the new record from The Whiskey Theory, gives way to a crashing, good old fashioned, pop-rock anthem about having one last good time before the world comes to an end. Most of the tracks on A Symphony Of Fire are infused with this dark, tongue in cheek humor but the uplifting melodies soften the sting of the acerbic lyrics. The best example of this is the nihilistic joy exhibited in the barroom sing-a-long No One Loves You As Much As You Think They Do and the news media skewering Going Down Together. Summer Song is a hook-happy, anti-love song that laments the fact that the singer cannot escape his former love's favorite tune "I keep hearing that summer song, all year long, when I pass out when I come to, I'm never getting rid of you." These caustic grins continue on the rollicking Forget About Last Night and the minimalist ode to a lost art form Mix Tapes.
But A Symphony Of Fire is not without its poignant moments. Follow combines a melody reminiscent of a childhood nursery rhyme with an unabashedly emotional chorus that sings "If you're lost on the way I'm a trail you can follow, stuck in today I will be your tomorrow, give me your pain and I'll feel the sorrow." Way Up Here issues an apology and condolences from a deceased friend who assures those still living that "I've healed my broken life from way up here, I'm with the angels singing never fear." The record un-officially closes with the brooding yet redemptive Open Mic Night that reflects on the sometimes destructive lifestyle of musicians and the community of kindred spirits they gravitate to for comfort. But beofore things get too serious, the record officially closes how it began, with a big, boisterous, sing-a-long revelry.
The Whiskey Theory's debut is a guitar rock record devoted to the art of the hook and is unafraid to work each song into a frothy melodic lather.
