THE WHITE LIGHT are a four piece rock ‘n’ roll band from Forfar, Scotland. Formed by Scott Birch (Vocals/Guitar) Barry McEwing (Guitar) and Neil Smeaton (Bass) the line-up was completed in late 2005 by Barrie “the Machine” Wilson (Drums).
Writing and musical influences include King’s of Leon, The Cribs, Oasis, The Undertones, The Clash, B.R.M.C. The result is a sound can be best described as adrenaline-fuelled indie-rock full of surging anthems and super-charged rhythms which has drawn comparisons with The Clash, and The Undertones.
In 2007 THE WHITE LIGHT were one of two judges’ picks to reach the final of the Scottish Sun’s Winadeal competition and perform in front of a panel of music industry experts. As a result THE WHITE LIGHT were the first act to be championed by Freshman’s Guitars on the unsigned artists page of their website and were also invited by David O’Hagan of Mercury Records to perform at the IRN-BRU 32music series of gigs held at The Three Sisters, Edinburgh.
Over the last two years the band have gained experience playing regularly at venues across Scotland including The Doghouse, Dundee and The Box and Pivo Pivo in Glasgow. Having supported Bad Manners on the final leg of their latest UK tour the band are now looking for increased exposure and the chance to establish themselves as “the band to see”.
THE WHITE LIGHT recently completed their first full length album ‘Sick and Tired of Waiting for the Weekend’ (available to download at www.believedigital.com) and are currently working on new material for the follow-up EP.

“Aeons ago, punk rock came along and everyone delighted at the fact that the adrenaline-rousing three minute song had finally stomped over every musical excess known to man and made music exciting, vibrant, refreshing and rapturous once more. It may not be punk rock – but the new album from Forfar's The White Light has exactly the same effect.” - http://www.deadearnest.btinternet.co.uk/
