The Wild Bean is a coffee house located in historic downtown Lewisburg, WV . We feature traditional coffee and espresso drinks with emphasis on freshly roasted organic beans and organic dairy. Our food menu contains organic and all-natural vegetarian soups, salads and sandwiches. A freshly baked assortment of pastries, bagels and other treats are waiting to delight your tastebuds.

But wait that is not all the Bean has to offer!.... We have a great selection of local art for sale, freshly roasted whole bean organic coffee, best selection of teas around, and a mungo choice of new and used CD's.

If that was not enough we also have live music on the weekends and offer free wireless internet access.

Hackensaw Boys
w/ Wild Rumpus

Friday June 12th @ 8pm

Hackensaw BoysThe Hackensaw Boys first began playing their joyful blend of old-time tinged music on the streets of Charlottesville in the autumn of 1999. Far from limiting themselves to the old-time canon, however, the Hackensaws have been first and foremost a band of songwriters. Their music, while drawing upon the spirit of the mountains, is sophisticated and informed by the best elements of punk rock and classic country music. As one reviewer put it: Imagine the Carter Family meets the Ramones, and you begin to get the picture.

You see them in the early hours of the morning walking hotel corridors, or boldly traversing rush hour streets. They are sincere, polite but talkative men with instrument cases. They admire the local scenery and appear unfed. By day they seem incapable of action but at night they step onto a stage and with taut fiddle bows, worn cutlery and dirty strings bring you a focused, vibrant and joyful sound. They are the Hackensaw Boys – and they are in your town.

After seven years of relentless touring throughout the United States, Europe and the U.K., the Hackensaw Boys are being recognized as one of the most exciting groups on the diverse Americana music scene. The group’s second release for Nettwerk Records "Look Out" represents the recorded culmination of the Hackensaw’s unique vision: A celebratory but defiant sound culled from old-time mountains, backstage doorways and punishing drives through the evolving American landscape. Nine of the album’s 12 songs were written from within the group and sometimes-Modest Mouse-sometimes-Hackensaw, Tom Peloso, contributed two tracks. A pounding rendition of the traditional “Gospel Plow” rounds out the package.

Wild RumpusThe Wild Rumpus
Hailing from Fayetteville, WV, the Wild Rumpus is an original string band led by singer and songwriter, Andrew Adkins. Forging a sound that has one foot stomping in the past and the other stomping in the present, their debut album “Love, Trains & Home” on WV label Mudbone Records rolls together bluegrass, swing, country, and rock & roll for a style that is uniquely their own. Their influences range from Leonard Cohen to Jimmy Martin and touch everything in between while managing to hold together a sound that is instantly recognizable and will start your legs to dancing on their own. They have been playing shows promoting their summer CD release to rave reviews and the dancing has been spontaneous and instantaneous.

The Legendary JC's

Friday June 19th @ 8pm

Legendary JC'sIt all started with some sharkskin suits and Otis Redding tunes more than seven years ago. Since that point, the members of the The Legendary J.C.’s have ridden a wave of press accolades and flocks of sweaty fans to a point where they are ready for lift-off.

The Legendary J.C.’s (commonly: 'The J.C.’s') started flooring Central Florida crowds with their brand of soulful rocking blues in 2000.
Such over-the-top shows have garnered the band headlining slots at three consecutive years worth of NOLA Jazz Fest late-nights, Florida Music Festival and Macon, Ga.'s Bragg Jam, Springing in Blues festival in Jacksonville, Fl, a month at Monte Carlo Casino – Las Vegas, Tropical Heatwave in Tampa,Fl., Milledgeville BBQ Festival, Smoke on the Water BBQfest in Lakeland,Fl., Crawfish Fest in Tallahassee,Fl., Palatka Blue Crab Festival, Wingfest in Hilton Head island,N.C., Scallop Festival in Port St. Joe, Fl., Party in the Park in Painesville,Oh., and community events throughout the southeast. The J.C.’s have also headlined radio-station events for WMNF, WLOQ and WMMO. Other festival performances include Voodoo Music Experience, Langerado, LEAF festival, Down on the Farm, Bear Creek Music fest and Dunedin Mardi Gras.

A typical show touches on rootsy-blues music and rockin' the f*%k out, balls to the wall. We are not a jam band by any means, but we improvise a lot. So a typical show is really two -- the opening set we keep our songs four to five minutes long, but when we get deep into it, we can go for three or four hours.”

Charity work including benefit concerts for hurricane Charlie in Florida, Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans musician fund,Boy's and Girl's club of Florida are also a part of the bands normal schedule.

The band has been in high demand at corporate functions, as well, playing for dignitaries of the G8 Summit, Canadien Parliament, US house of Representatives, Full Sail Recoeding arts, Harley-Davidson and Southern Comfort to name a few.

Not only does the band pay respects to their influences through their gold-standard original tunes, they have also performed with some, including: James Brown, B.B. King, Dr. John, Al Green and Sam Rivers. Other opening slots have included: Robert Randolph, The Black Keys, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Rebirth Brass band, Cowboy Mouth, J.J. Grey and Mofro, Galactic, Blues Traveler and even Bad Company.
