Band Members"Ty & Ayesha"
Continuing with their mixture of American west coast, singer/songwriter, Country & Folk, sounds. Now featuring Guest appearances from other Family members including:
"Chris Walmsley"
Horn blowing jazz genius, aswell as fine pianist and great harmony singer. Chris has the maturity of a musician twice his age. Plans to play full sets with Ty & Ayesha soon having featured heavily as a guest in Late 2006.
"Jane Richards" Jane is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from 'Noahs Ark' in Kent. Jane specialises in americana music particually Old Time Mountain Music & Bluegrass, and is Well known and respected around the Bluegrass Clubs of the S.E. England. She often works with Ty as "Lake Marie" performing songs by Gillian Welch, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Etc.
"Steve Gamble & Ty Watling" Ty met Steve at a Folk Festival in early 2006, and they soon discovered they shared an uncannily similar taste in music, as well as both writing their own songs. Since then they have played together every week, building up an impressive repetoire of classic Alt Country, and their own original material. They are just about ready to unleash their multi-instrumental show on the pubs and clubs of the S.E.
"London Road" Lyndsey is a multi instrumentalist from legendary folk family The Rules. She is the youngest member of their band Pigs Ear. Lyndsey plays Flute, Recorders, Oboe, Northumbrian Small Pipies and is a great singer. Together with partner Chiris she writes and performs original folk songs under the name 'London Road'
"Kitty Fernandez"
A good friend of Ty and Ayesha who re-introduced them to Orpington Folk Club, and who is begining to take the London Clubs by storm. Her haunting melodies are remeniscent of Vashti Bunyan & Beth Orton, with incredible lyrics from one so young. Everyone in the Family looks forward to working with Kitty in 2007.
"Pete Shaw" Pete Shaw is on of the U.K.'s most sought after bass Players. We are very lucky to have him as a friend and in our family. Wilderness shows with Pete are always very special.
InfluencesIn no particular order, some that leap to mind are.... Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, June Carter, Gram Parsons, John Prine, Dolly Parton, The Carter Family, Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings, Jackson Browne, Carole King, The Band, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, Martin Carthy, Loretta Lynn, Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks, Randy Newman, Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson, Linda Thompson, Fairport Convention, John & Beverly Martyn, Ronnie Lane, Cat Stevens, Steve Earle, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Bessie Smith, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, Hank Williams, The Grateful Dead, The Byrds, Mama Cass, Loudon Wainwright, Russ Kunkel, Lee Sklar, Danny Kooch, Dave Linley, The Who, Josh Ritter, Eddi Reader, Peter Bruntnell, The Muppets, The Simpsons, A mighty wind...Yosemite National park....the countryside.....the city....fireside stories...long journeys.....the sea.....the mountains....holding hands....etc etc etc

   About The Wilderness Family
RUSTFEST 2008

The Re-Union of the band Laurel Canyon on the eve of Neil Youngs appearance at the paddock wood hop farm. Members of the NYAS from all over, will get together to play and celebrate everything Neil. Come and join us, what better warm up for the following day.

LADIES OF THE CANYON
We are proud to present the music of Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Judy Collins, Carole King, Cass Elliot and Judee Sill.

"The Wilderness Family" is a group of musical friends who share a love of music and life. They play together, gig together, record together, share songs, run through woods, hide in caves, row small wooden boats across mountain lakes and generally refuse to grow old together. Raised upon the chilly fields and warm summer mists of South East England, they play their sweet blend of folk, americana, indie, rock, bluegrass long into the inky black nights of Kent.....

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace -

2 of 230, walkaboutsverse.741.com: WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Thanks very much for the comment! Im really pleased you liked the new recording! And you're right... after I've done my windmills, I was thinking of smashing my guitar through an amp... Do you reckon it would go down well at the orpington folk club? :)
