The Wilderness are sonic Bengal tigers prowling your back alleyway, flanked by red-clad cherubs, looking for a fix of stardust on a platter.
The Wilderness were born in Halifax in 2004 and lived in Toronto since 2007.
People say they’re:
“Rock traditionalists that merge flowing vocals with impeccable blues-driven guitars, straddling the divide between alt-roots and supercharged indie rock. An energetic, rapturous live show”- The Lonely Vagabond, Toronto
Or that:
“Lead singer Lee Piazza's stage presence and powerful vocals can either put you into a mellow groove or demand you to dance drive the Wilderness but without one of the tighter bands in the city backing Lee it would only go so far”- Dan Wolovick of Two Way Monologues, Toronto
The Wilderness are sounding off the Bohemian walls of the “Cameron House” on the third Saturday of every month, for their residency, which is over a year old now. They reverberated during Canadian Music Week this past March, (with international bands, Lonely China Day from Beijing, China and Captains from Sydney, Australia). They’ve lifted foot soles off the floors of the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, Drake Hotel, Rancho Relaxo, El Mocambo, Revival, Bread and Circus and The Boat in Toronto, and the also legendary Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, Quebec (with Pete Samples), to name a few places.
They released a live CD in January of this year, recorded at the Cameron House and they continue work on a new E.P., to be released this summer. In April of this year, The Wilderness recorded several songs for Take 5 on CIUT 89.5 FM. They can be downloaded for free at: www.4EPs.com/thewilderness
With Lee Piazza’s poetic yet raw lyrics, Nate Lyons-Fisher’s lead guitar flourishes, Jay Organek’s sub-harmonic bass frequencies and Chris Mason’s tribal rhythms (and off rhythms) and crunching synth, The Wilderness are rock and roll and all her maniacal forebears and offspring.

Harnessing elements of meticulous songcraft, soulful vocals, and shimmering guitars, this is a band that navigates the territory between rustic-infused energy and a brash rock spirit.
