The Wild Wood band members Eli Bender, Kelly Pond, and Corinna Smith have been known to play: violin/fiddle, cello, guitar, mandolin, piano, vocals, percussion, and a variety of surprise instruments--you'll just have to see the band in action to discover the rest!
The music of The Wild Wood is a fresh blend of superbly satisfying folk music influenced by the diverse backgrounds of three quirky, fun, and talented multi-instrumentalists. Collaborations with many other musical friends are also common. The Wild Wood has been known to wander through a twisted forest of completely improvised musical mayhem, then perhaps follow with their own lovely arrangement of a traditional folk song or fiddle tune. With The Wild Wood you can never know quite what to expect--but you're always guaranteed a wonderful listening experience...
In addition to performing, all three trio members are devoted string educators and all are pursuing music education in the nation's number one ranked school for their discipline, Michigan State University. The Wild Wood Band hopes to preserve and promote traditional music and infect as many fellow musicians as possible with the folk music bug!
The Wild Wood Band is available for performances in a number of venues as well as workshops, clinics, and residencies with string classes of all ages. Send us a message!
So I heard this rumor that you guys were "amazing," so I came here to check you out. Since I don't know any of you nor have I heard you play or played with you, I found you music to truly be, Amazing! :)
Eli, Kelly, Cori - I just wanted to let you know how cool it is how you all work with Fiddlers ReStrung. Thursday's concert was a ton of fun (I had a blast!), and it's great how you all spend your time helping those high-schoolers learn and enjoy music. It's a great program and I'm hoping to hear them again sometime. And perhaps someday there can be a TOV-with-fiddles collaboration? :)
I think you all should come to Boston for thanksgiving, and we could pull the many bostonian fiddlers together and create an amazing intensive explosion of FIDDLE and it wouldn't be weird at all! :)
I'm speaking for Jo who's having the time of her life in Costa Rica. All's well with us right now. My life seems to be coming together in Nashville with the new band and I love it there. What's new with you guys? How's school?
