THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS were molded on the streets of Oakland, California during the seventies (the only "white boys" on Salisbury Street) listening to their parents vast blues & country vinyl collection, the funk that flowed out of boomboxes (pre hip-hop), and the psychedelic folk rock that blossomed in the East Bay Area during that time. So it was inevitable that the brothers followed their families lineage of song and dance men(Gr,Gr,Gr,Great Grandpa penned the traditional favorite, "Sweet Betsy from Pike" in mid 1800's. Gr,Gr,Grandpa had a country swing big band that toured the US extensively in the 1910s-1920s), After moving to Roseville, Ca the brothers started putting together their first groups in the mid-eighties. (Uncle John's Band, 922, The Homegrown Boogie Band).

A WILLIAMS BROTHERS show features intertwining songs and extended improv induced jams fueled by any and all audatory stimulus to have ever sounded, there is no genre or barrier that is considered unusuable, all previous artists are an influence in one way or another, it is true old school original jam music. JAMES WILLIAMS vocals are inspired by the grit of JIM MORRISON, the soul of OTIS REDDING and the personal experience of JERRY GARCIA. PHILLIP WILLIAMS plays lead guitar with a deep blues style that is noticeably influenced by JIMI HENDRIX, STEVIE RAY VAUGHN & DUANE ALLMAN. Whether solo, together as "ACOUSTIC WB" or with their back-up group THE HOMEGROWN BOOGIE BAND, WILLIAMS BROTHERS shows are always full of surprises & special guests. it is never the same show twice

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS & THEIR HOMEGROWN BOOGIE BAND moved to western Colorado in 2000 where they are considered the anchor of the western Colorado music scene. Over the past 17 years the brothers have helped start several music venues, put together some of the earliest jam band festivals, and have tirelessly promoted the genre. THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS BAND has a weekly half hour radio segmant dedicated to them during the local scene show on KMSA 91.3 fm in Grand Junction, Co. & were recently voted one of the top ten bands to see in Colorado by "Emmitts Tops in America" website.

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS BAND'S hit single, "CIRCLES" was nominated for a 2008 Golden Kayak Award by the International Academy Of Independant Artists for best Rock Song. TWBB also hit 1 on the mp3.com Blues charts 12/19/06 with JOHNNY THE SQUIRREL, coupled by DEEP ELEM BLUES which was simultamiously perched at 7. DEEP ELEM BLUES went on to hit 1 01/12/07. Both songs spent 4 weeks in the top 20

TWBB has released a total of four albums (Three live recordings & one studio release), and have countless live bootleg recordings circulating throughout the tape trading ranks. TWBB just signed a deal with soundandentertainment.com which will see their newest album, "LIVE in Aspen" scheduled for release May 20th 2008 go worldwide. James and/or Phillip Williams have worked with: JOHN LEE HOOKER, DEF LEPPARD, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, CHICAGO, 3 DOG NIGHT, KID ROCK, JOAN JETT, BLIND MELON, JIMMY SMITH, RAMBLIN JACK ELLIOT, LITTLE FEAT, JOHNNY RIVERS, STYX, FOREIGNER, REO SPEEDWAGON, THE GUESS WHO, TESLA, QUIET RIOT, ZIGABOO MODELISTE, DEREK TRUCKS, JOHNNY LANG, MOTHER HIPS, BILL NERSHI of SCI, THE DREW EMMITT BAND, VINCE HERMAN, KARL DENSON, JOE CRAVEN, CANNED HEAT, RATT, SLAUGHTER, 2 LIVE CREW, STARSHIP, SURVIVOR, TRAPT, SALIVA, JOHN WAITE, RARE EARTH, ALO, HENRY BUTLER, JASON ISBELL & THE 400 UNIT, ROGER CLYNE & THE PEACEMAKERS, RECKLESS KELLY, TONY FURTADO, OZOMATLI, C-BO, ZUVUYA, GREAT AMERICAN TAXI, THAMUSEMEANT, SAM KINNIGER, CAROLYN WONDERLAND, CARLOS WASHINGTON, THE MOTET, THE MEDITATIONS, H.
