The Will was formed in June, 2008 as a collaboration between songwriters/musicians Shua Muckala and Kevin Shultz. As a Pop/Rock group based in Nashville, The Will carve strong, deliberate melodies and thoughtful lyrics out of ivory brand bars of soap and then wash their bodies with the rock. Bands such as Radiohead, Coldplay, and The Killers among others have helped influence the driving drums and guitar tones in their music while groups like The Beatles, Muse, and Queen exemplify The Will's desire to experiment.
Shua and Kevin met at Belmont University where each studied music and business. At first, the gifted songwriters were busy with their own material but eventually began bouncing ideas and songs off of each other for constructive criticism. After a few months, they realized that their methods of writing, their influences, and the sound they were each trying to accomplish were the same, and they began to collaborate. With the coming release of their first EP, The Will has nowhere to go but forward. It is this motion and perseverance that gives definition to the band's name. In addition to playing their hometown, Nashville, the band hopes to one day colonize mars and watch the rapture from space.
