The Group
The Wimshurst's Machine is a fully-fledged, eight-piece, all-Italian, chillout ensemble originally formed in Turin in the north of Italy in the year 2003 by two computer music enthusiasts, Augusto Chiarle and Fabio Rodi, with the idea of producing electronic music and enriching it with live acoustic, ethnic and ambient sound recordings. The founding pair soon found themselves collaborating regularly with a number of other musicians - Roberto Canone, Massimiliano Baudissard, Antonio Rapacciuolo, Daniele Scerra, Duilio Chiarle, Elvis Bergero - each taking it in turns to add his own particular artistic contribution according to the need of the moment. Sliding seamlessly from chillout to rock, from ambient to jazz, and from electronic to ethnic, The Wimshurst's Machine have created a highly distinctive style, unique in genre and sound, that crosses musical and geographical borders at will and gives full rein to the artistic preferences and verve of each member of the ensemble. A constant and careful balance between creative freedom and meticulous production turns every TWM album into a highly professional and delightfully enchanting oneiric journey through time and space.
The Album
Officially released on the 3rd August 2009, "Secret Gardens" is the latest in a growing line of ambitious projects by The Wimshurst's Machine and brings the ensemble's total number of original studio album releases to 4 in the six year period since the founding of the group. In this new release the novelty factors are a number of prestigious collaborations with such artists as Corrado Rossi, Sally Cooper, William O'Connell, Harry Tarnecky, and the presence of two major "symphonic" suites: "Moonshadows" and "Secret Garden". "Moonshadows" is a five-track ambient suite in a style declaredly influenced by the great Brian Eno, while "Secret Garden" is a seven-track suite with overt classical overtones. These two suites make up a considerable porportion of the album's total runtime and include many excerpts from original TWM film and documentary soundtracks, an area in which the band has always been very active. "Secret Garden" comprises 20 tracks and 120 minutes of delightfully seductive music, dominated by ambient atmospheres but with noteworthy elements of classical, world, rock and jazz. The album will soon be available on CDbaby and on iTunes and a full preview is currently available at Last FM.

Mike stewart has many committments which is why he is not a regular in the band. I will keep you posted as the tours and festivals and unfold
