I would have to say my hero is my daughter Kala because having her in my life has given me the strength to fight back from my stroke and to re-build my life. She has filled my life with joy through the good and the bad. I consider her a blessing from God!
also my girlfriend courtney who has taught me that i can be and am worth loving even though i'm physically challenged. she has given me even more reason to have hope.

My name is Michael and I'm a 39 year old stroke survivor and a single parent to 17 year old daughter, Kala whom I have had custody of since she was 5 years old. I have raised her on my own since then. I had my stroke on Feb 28, 1994 and gained custody of Kala in January of 1995.
I am very up front about my beliefs. I also don't make excuses for myself nor anyone else for that matter. With me, what you see is what you get. I treat people the way they treat me. I also value trust and respect
With that said, I am a very compassionate person who is a very good listener. I am also extremely loyal to my friends and any relationship I may be involved in.
Along with my listening qualities and compassionate side of me, I can be a hopeless romantic, spontaneous (I love spontinaety-nothing more boring than routine), and I alway try to make sure that the woman I am with knows she is loved and appreciated. I hope to meet a woman who can look past the stroke and into the person I am inside. I am highly independent and and only ask for help if I think I need it.
My biggest wish: To have the physical abilty to do all those things with Kala that other parents get to do with their children. Don't get me wrong. I'm mobile and highly independant, but with no use of my left arm and hand and limited use of my left leg I just can't go running, jogging, hiking, bike riding anymore. Those are things I mean about doing things with Kala.
I a current graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. , with a BA in applied sociology. I hope to get my masters degree and work for either the State department or Homeland Security. I also want to specialize in Middle Eastern studies.
